Forfeits
Is it just me or does anyone else think that a 2-0 scoreline that occurs with forfeits in the SAASL is a bit generous? Some leagues have it as 3-0, but I reckon there is merit to it being more like 5-0.

Re: Forfeits
I agree, we almost had a forfiet today which like you said would of only been 2-0, we went on to win 10-3, so it does affect goal difference!

Re: Forfeits
I agree.......I think Uni and a couple of struggling clubs should be kicking up a real stink, I' ve got some great mates down there and I know Sangs OS but I reckon playing your B team ahead of your A's could effect things at both ends!!! Bit of a cop out IMO boys!!!!
Should have pulled both teams......left yourselves wide open. Don't know what the ruling is

Re: Forfeits
USC Lion forfeting the A's is a disgrace. If they knew they only had a certain amount of fit players prior to the weekend, they should have forfeited the B's and played the A's.

Seeing that the Reserves lost 10-0...I hardly think they were able to field a full team (of fit players) in that side either...Aldo Serena wrote:USC Lion forfeting the A's is a disgrace. 2-0 really? That should be up for discussion at next meeting.Bomber wrote:Is it just me or does anyone else think that a 2-0 scoreline that occurs with forfeits in the SAASL is a bit generous? Some leagues have it as 3-0, but I reckon there is merit to it being more like 5-0.

would you rather the team just didnt rock up without telling you that would have been worse. clearly we are struggling for numbers in the b's and thats showing with the efforts in the a's

Re: Forfeits
rumour at training last night was that Lion copped a $50 fine, the ref is chasing us for the money for the game that wasn't played even if we did receive the fine money for compensation I doubt that it would cover the cost of the ref let alone all the other out of pocket expenses that we have had.

Pretty sure that technically the referee should always be paid for turning up, regardless of whether the game was played or not...BlackBrian_7 wrote:rumour at training last night was that Lion copped a $50 fine, the ref is chasing us for the money for the game that wasn't played even if we did receive the fine money for compensation I doubt that it would cover the cost of the ref let alone all the other out of pocket expenses that we have had.
Re: Forfeits
My take on it it the forfeiting team has to pay the ref full fees. But as none of them were there...Chade wrote:Pretty sure that technically the referee should always be paid for turning up, regardless of whether the game was played or not...BlackBrian_7 wrote:rumour at training last night was that Lion copped a $50 fine, the ref is chasing us for the money for the game that wasn't played even if we did receive the fine money for compensation I doubt that it would cover the cost of the ref let alone all the other out of pocket expenses that we have had.

Re: Forfeits
In that case then we should be compensated for the other team failing to meet their commitments and giving us reasonable notice. The league regulations make mention of this but I am not sure how this would be enforced.Chade wrote:Pretty sure that technically the referee should always be paid for turning up, regardless of whether the game was played or not...BlackBrian_7 wrote:rumour at training last night was that Lion copped a $50 fine, the ref is chasing us for the money for the game that wasn't played even if we did receive the fine money for compensation I doubt that it would cover the cost of the ref let alone all the other out of pocket expenses that we have had.

We never even contemplated forfeiting with 7 players although we had 10 in second half it wouldve been better for our goal difference instead of yours.Tilley_Park_Boys wrote:I agree, we almost had a forfiet today which like you said would of only been 2-0, we went on to win 10-3, so it does affect goal difference!

No it wasnt acceptable. The A grade game was called off due to weather as the rain picked up despite the fact you only had about 6 guys rock up. The B grade game would have kick off atleast if your team had turned up.
If teams are not going to turn up they must tell the other team what is going on well in advance.

Re: Forfeits
personally, I dont have a problem with teams forfeiting cup round due to lack of numbers as long as they give sufficient notice and dont just pull a No Show.
i do have an issue if they are doing it just to avoid being spanked by a higher division team. we have Pontian this week and I dont think anyone is expecting a win, but we will field a team and do our best, if we get pumped 10 nil then so be it... thats why they are div 1 and we are div 3.
i dont agree with teams forfeiting league matches as it does often come down to goal difference for relegation and promotion eligible teams. I'm sure weve all been in situations where guys are playing in the A's and the B's to fill a squad at times but I would rather see that than a forfeit. or as has already been suggested make the forfeit 5 or 6 nil scores. this should soon put an end to it.

Re: Forfeits
if teams forfeit, give money to the club who misses out. make up for lost revenue.
there'll be many players with nothing to do so even organise something for the opposing club in lieu of the game.... strippers, hookers, kegs of beer, etc.

Re: Forfeits
I think the Amateur League need to look at this Cup draw especially the first round making it a little more even as no wonder there are so many forfeits happening...
With the Cup round the forfeit score doesn't really matter being 2-0 but when it comes to League i agree it should be a 5-0 scoreline 2 is too generous...
