Oh really??? What is that supposed to mean?

I have got mates down at the club, but i am no longer involved. There are some serious problems down there. I agree it is unacceptable to forfiet any league game. If anything they should of forfieted the B's and played the A's.
I suppose a 2 goal loss is better for their for and against......

Great result Rhino.......thought they may have been Villa's main threat!!!!! too many question marks over the last few seasons now there struggling so early.....
Without taking anything away from a deserved win BOSA have been hit with a lot of injuries in the past few weeks. I doubt with the injuries we have had that we can challenge for the league this year. Congratulations to Modbury, we always struggle to beat you at your ground and this year has been no exception.

Well the divisions seem to be top class in the top two divs and knowing the strength that the lions have had in the past it's just a shame that it came to this today and maybe also next week. If I was in charge of that club I would take examples and gain insight to how teams like vipers, old ignations and so on. I'm afraid that this won't be the first occasion and I fear other teams that only have A's and B's may fall down that road. Hopefully the leagues continue to produce a great standard and more new clubs get involved.

Thank you to the Adelaide Comets SC for 3 really good, hard fought games played in good spirit!! Well done particularly to the A's who played a great 80 mins, when the score was tied at 2 a piece. 7 players missing from our regular starting 11, not an effort to be disgraced about!!! Not that it is an excuse, you are only as good as the depth you have in your squad!! Thanks to all the Comets who stuck around after the game for a bite to eat, and thanks to the Orfanidis brothers who presented me with a new whiteboard    After last weeks debarcle, it was nice to get back on the right track again!!! Good luck to the Comets, hopefully they can get promoted this year with the Hawks!!!

Sanger is coaching but is overseas for 8 weeks. So P.Waters is taking the reigns while he's away.

On a side note. Two weeks ago Lion looked close to getting their full strenght side together when they thumped Breakers 7-1 (not sure a team has beaten them so convincingly?). Since then two players/coach have gone overseas and about 5 first team players injured. So maybe the issue is just short term, but any small club who has 7-8 first team players out will inevitably suffer.

and for a Sat Div2 A side to forfeit!!!!!!!
B's players should have been promoted to the A's...

And then the B's forfeit.

Absurd to forfeit an A's game like that, what were the club thinking of...?

On the upside, there is definitely some Quality at USC that is not getting a run, and if they were to return with mates to their former clubs it may just open up the DIV 1 sat comp, relive the glory of 2007 & 2008.

Very interesting!

question to ask is was the club aware it would only get 5-6 players for the a's before the b's kicked off.
we can all assume that USC would have at least 9-10 fresh players for the a's hence y they didnt forfeit the b's
im not defending them , i have nothing to do with USC and in fact its the only club i have played against that i have been sent off .

i agree chelski007 this should not happen in div 2 especially a proud club such as lion. but how about div 1 today the bottom team in allstars losing to the reining champions by 1 goal. this league is getting tougher each year. jets at last showed what we are capable of with a convincing win over the mighty bosa .

Leading 1-0 at half time and playing well with majority of possession in the first half..Even when we went down to 10 men midway through the second half, we pushed them all the way till the end..Villa were defending with 10 men and we were extremely unlucky not to get something out of the game.. Defensive mistakes cost us again...Considering we were missing 2 very important players we did OK...Jets at home next!!

Don't mention the NUMEROUS chances AV had in scoring in both half. In fact if it wasn't for our poor finishing and some classy saves, the scoreline should of been much worse!
But the Allstars did push us all game, and deserved their lead. Villa just couldn't get into stride in the first half, a few glorious chances was missed by Musci and it took the second half for him to find the net twice. Villa get pushing, so did Africa. Game could of gone either way until the red card to the Africa player. Didn't look that bad, but ref saw it different.
Great game, Allstars when their on, they are very good. Will take slot of points from other teams this year, they just need the discipline!!

Yes, AV had 2-3 sitters in the first half...I also recall your goalkeeper making some great saves , in fact our first goal came from a rebound after the keeper saved what looked like a certain goal in the first instance...Red card was really a yellow...He is not the type of player to make those kind of tackles...Must say there were worse tackles flying around, still nothing was given..Also the 10 men disadvantage didn't seem to affect us as I reckon we played just as good..All the best for the season!
ps We are no longer called Africa!!

Sorry mate would have to disagree........from what i've see so far this season.......... a massive gap between the 2 divisions.

Remember playing for Villa in 2008 when we won promotion (from Div 2) that was a very good league full of class!!, it took us till the last week to seal it. Div 2 this season quality wise from what i have seen has been very poor........IMO, not one of any of the sides i have seen would get close to any Div 1 side.

Not seen Vipers or Uni.......played both of them in Div 1 last year and held them both in high regard. As I posted in the past, I was very surprised they got relegated as both sides played a quality brand of football and pushed us to the max. I have seen most of the rest so I can only judge the competition by that. In 2008, the top 6 clubs in a 12 team comp would beat each other on any given day, and I would confidently say that each side in that top half would have at least 4 players that I would consider good enough to have stepped up and played in Div 1 in the last 2 years.

I watched Villa cop 9 against Pontians a week or so before they played Comets........I don't think that would happen now. Wouldn't take pre season games as an indication. A big call to call both divisions top class is what i'm saying.....I've only been involved with Div 1 football (till this year) and some of what i've seen at that level also wouldn't rate as top class.

I was involved in Division 1 in 2008 and cant comment on the quality or lack of quality in Division 2 that year.

I think the standard of the Saturday Divisions has improved in the time Ive been involved. However, I think that Jack may have a point in regards to with the expansion of the Saturday Leagues both at Fed and Amateur level having caused a thinning of players across clubs.

In regards to this year, Division 2 is a tough league. On any given day I think any team could take points from another. IMO there are also clubs playing in Division 2 this year that could compete in Division 1.

It will be interesting to see how Allstars and Old Ignatians fair in Div 1 this year.

I have always played Div 1 and never held Div 2 in very high regard at all, but I must say I have been pleasantly surprised by the standard of Div 2 this year. I believe there are possibly four or five teams that wouldnt appear out of place if they were playing Div 1.
