The point is, why bother having the rules if people are going to knowingly and deliberately breach them when they understand that is it impossible to police? Why not utilise a better 'leveller' such as a points cap?
excuse the ignorance, but how would a points cap work?
and how would you possibly police that either?

Points cap - sounds like a yank/afl thing to me.

Incorrect on a technicality.

But yes you do need a licence. You even need a licence to play music and have the TV on.

It was reported on here that last year one club paid players in Saturday Div 2. This wouldn't surprise me.

Unfortunately at some clubs the loyal players are the last to find out :(

I would also like to know where the technicality is? As far as I knew any person serving liqour in SA is responsible for the patron purchasing such liqour (if found out any sports or social club caught serving without said licence would soon lose any licence they hold).

So, the punishment for serving without a licence is that you lose your licence.

Its how the not for profit organisation is set up as an incorportation. Ours was changed on advice from the board to rearrange it. It means that every year we need to submit details of our entire committee to the licencing board. The issue is, if someone has a record, then there might have an issue.

[quote] Is that really an issue for you Kitchimo, it certainly doesn't affect my daily life. As someone who has been paid in the past to play, I gave all of it back to their major sponsor - the local pub. [/quote

What club would bother playing God is an Englishman to play? Cant be a club in this country..

Fair enough. We have plenty of RSA people around so it is not an issue for us, and they're very simple to get hold of.
