Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
Div 1 City vs Gawler game could have been 25-0 except City kept the Gawler keeper busy and made her look good by kicking it straight to her everytime.
Mind you the keeper was good in her own right with a MASSIVE KICK!!! I've played at City for 7-8+ years and I've only ever seen the massive tree between pitch 1 & 2 hit once during a game... Gawler keeper hit it 4 times in one half LOL!! (P.S. They were also a massive miss kick too hehe!!)
Not impressed with Gawler game style - Defence pushed up very high and quickly everytime limiting the area of play - each time they collected the ball they just booted it down the park - Boring and so 1980's!!
P.S. Next time Gawler you come to a game and beg the opposition for a linesman because you don't have one of your own (even though we can see ppl sitting on your bench) please dont then abuse the linesman we do provide for you just because your defence cannot keep up with running a high defence for 90 minutes and then you just yell offside each time we run past you and you can't be fluffed chasing the opposition down. You will not make friends. Rant over.

What are you complaining about? You won, what else you want? If you don't like the way we play then thats your problem because we used that same method the last 2yrs and won the league doing it, so get over it. And for your information, the people sitting on our bench were injured players that weren't capable of running the line. You really think we would of asked for another linesman if we had a choice? You should really get your facts straight before you come on here preaching crap.
Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
Why is gawler always bad mouthed by everyone. The girls were lucky to even have a team this yr. There are 4 original players left in the squad the rest are either new to the game, u17s n Div 4 players from few years ago. The players on the side were injure or they would have played. The coach was told to run the line but seems to think he can't coach n run the line.
If there defense pushes up then tough, u as the opposition have to deal wit that.
Considering their keeper is NOT a goalie but i forward she done awesome. And from wat i understand she is actually going blind she did a really good job.
Maybe they should have tried harder to score.
As for the linesman he was yelled at once because he was way outta position for that first goal which was kicked outta the goalie hands, which after the game the ref agreed that the call was wrong.... once he was yelled at.
Atleast their out der trying hey. Shouldn't that be all that matters?
The girls actually thought dey would be ran all over yesterday but they still went out der n proved to themselves that they can still compete.
Who cares wat style they play either. Must work for them.

Wow - hello forum which is not allowed to voice an opinion or view on a game without a butchering!
Complaining about the win or score - no...
Complaining about the goal keeper - no... Pretty sure I acknowledged that the keeper was good in her own right in my post AND I told her personally at the end of the game that they had played well - which they had!!
Preaching - haha... Well did I say Galwer have to play like this OR must play like that...... Again No! Just my personal observation on how they played and yes still personally not impressed with the style of play. My opinion isn't going to change just because you dont like it!!
As for the ref - bad calls on both sides. Decision at the end is his and we as players cannot argue - well we can but we would get carded!! Lines persons are there to act as an assitants to the ref - they are not fully qualifed therefore should not be yelled at - it is the ref's decision. We all should be grateful that we have people to help out running the line at all.
But please - No need to get aggressive and defensive guys... If you can't deal with opinions or a different view on a game then maybe a forum isnt really the best place for ya then hey!!

I understand wen the ball hit the tree play on was called.
Hey ur voicing ur opinion n others will respond. Didn't take it as aggressive or whatever.
Its no wonder some players may get agro on here with the way ppl 'voice their opinions about a club or team they no nothing about'
Refs n linesman will always cop some flack, comes with the job. Happens everywhere.
From wat i heard he was only yelled at once because he was like 10m from the play n if he was where he should have been then there wouldn't have been an issue.
We are just voicing our own opinion.

Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
Most hit tree and went out on the full - City got the throw in.
At least one occasion it hit tree and came straight down - Ref called play on.
All in all I thought the game was played in fairly good spirits and Gawler almost pipped one in the first half with a 1 vs. 1 with the goal keeper - good run from a through ball from the Gawler right winger and a decent (lucky!) save by the City keeper!! Had that gone in it surely would have been a different game!!
As for Nasty Pasties - Heard the scene was not pretty at Div 1 Stirling vs Toros (away). Toros got pumped but Stirling were having a ball with sledging on and off the field. I was pretty surprised because we played Stirling in the first round and they were pretty nice... Wonder what's changed!?!

Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
From what I saw, the Gawler vs City game was played in good spirits, didn't hear any complaints from either team about how the game was played. In the first half City was outplayed by Gawler and Gawler definatley looked to be the more dominant team, however in the second half Gawler looked a bit tired and lost some of their shape, City capitalised on this and got their 2 goals. It would be nice to see some postive, unbiased game reviews on here rather than attacking other teams for no real reason. The games over now, leave any judgements or opinions back on the pitch when the game finishes.
Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
say what you like about gawler, but unless you have been in the team you wouldn't know right....right...great club with lots to offer the competition...but they have a group of girls playing there that have proven to be bad for that club...hence struggling to field a team at the start of the season after being close to three teams several year ago...you might argue that what happens sometimes...but I say that the above and we all know who they are....lets hope the club dosnt fold and I might take my daughters back there one day..but right now, dont think so

good call by the ref - too bad we never got that call but instead a indirect free kick was given against us when one of our players hit that tree.killa11 wrote:I understand wen the ball hit the tree play on was called.

Technically both decisions are incorrect. Any interference by an outside agent play must be stopped and restarted with a drop ball....
Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
Smooth1 there are 4 original players left from the team 3yrs ago n if it wasn't for them players fighting every yr to keep a women's team at gawler then there wouldn't be one. Don't pass judgement on players wen you have no idea wat they actually do for their club behind the scenes.
Every girl there fights every yr to keep a women's team n it isn't the players fault they have to do that. There is alot more to it then u obviously know.
Too blame certain players is pathetic n if your gonna do that then have the decency to name them.
Those payers don't deserve to read this n then feel its all their fault.

Cumby vs. Sturt - pretty messy game with both sides coming reasonably close. Probably should have been a Cumberland result but lacked finishing I think. Thought the ref wasn't great, best not get into ref debates though. Fairly even game

Toros versus Stirling was a very physical game. The Ref probably let it go a bit far with girls getting push with two hands into the front of her body not in the play of game. There was also alot of words coming from the Stirling Bench and Linesman directed to the Toros bench and Girls.

Very disappointing IMO for Cumby that signed "star players" but are not showing the form that everybody expected. Especially 3-0 to Metro exposed many of their problems. They are very good on papers but there's more to the game than just big names...Sturt maybe is more of a team atm?

Not quite sure what you are saying here, halting play and the drop ball is for outside interference on the field of play by an outside agent.....
Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
Not surprised at Sturt/Cumby result, Sturt are very well coached, highly organized and structured with their 14141, maximizing their strengths with the players, could and will cause upsets against teams when they have their full 1st team list available on the pitch. Sturt transition well into attack countering strongly with the midfield dominance into attacking numbers forward. Cumby would be disappointed with 1 point from 3 homes games but with their playing list arguably only 2nd to Olympics in quality it will turn around. Their devotion to the State/SASI system of 1433 is cute but needs a couple of little tweaks to be competitive against the other teams (Olympic, City, Metro) who just want to win at club with a structure that works for them. On the bright side the 1433 will be brilliant against the lower teams so I would expect big wins coming up for Cumby against Fulham and South probably bigger scores than Olympic and City have achieved is my tip. Season back on track then for Cumby! Sturt - stick with what they have and the results will come...Easy Tiger wrote:Good result for Sturt that couldn't afford losing for the third time.Spurs23 wrote:Cumby vs. Sturt - pretty messy game with both sides coming reasonably close. I remember during my last Referees Course, and the Instructor kept saying, if the ball hits it, and it is on the field of play, you play on. For example, you have a shot a goal and it hits the Referee, corner flag, or a dog that has run onto the field of play, and goes into the goal, the law says it is a goalIbrox wrote:Not quite sure what you are saying here, halting play and the drop ball is for outside interference on the field of play by an outside agent.....
If the ball hits a tree branch that overhangs the pitch, you play on.
Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
I agree Cumby have the 2nd strongest team on paper and they must be disappointed with how they are going right now. But Cumby are not the only team that try to play interesting football...Sturt are playing the 1-4-3-3 as well...! And so are Fulham (at least they did in the Charity Cup) and Metro have played 1-4-3-3- for years. Also AC used it last year sometimes. Anyone can do that! Cumby have a fantastic team, a state/sasi coach, use the state/sasi system and still manage to play boring and poor...? How does this add up? Not having a go at Cumby, I think they are a real force but perhaps it would be better to worry less about learning ONE system and more about learning how to play football?cg1 wrote:Not surprised at Sturt/Cumby result, Sturt are very well coached, highly organized and structured with their 14141, maximizing their strengths with the players, could and will cause upsets against teams when they have their full 1st team list available on the pitch. Olympic can play any system and they will still be better than Cumby at this stage IMO. And Olympic don't play a long ball/booting system...When they played Cumby they passed the ball on the ground very well and run circles around the Cumby midfield and they could have scored easily 6 or 7 times...It's not about systems, it's how you play them. Sturt won the league in 2008 with that system but they were actually playing well!!! But is it maybe NOT NORMAL that a team should maximise their strengths??? And, do Cumby not do that deliberately?
Re: Results Round 3 10th April 2011
i dont think cumby shld be heaps disheartened. they have some good experienced players, then a huge age gap and 15 yo or girls of about that age playing. like fulham, watch out for them in a yr or two.

bit harsh on Cumby!
Its very good they appear to want to support and play the State/SASI system in support of FFSA development of the game, great for the players to gain that experience
Its close to working well for them just a couple of areas to improve which I'm sure the coaches would be aware of, or I'm sure some parents or players could assist with or even the SASI coach could advise on to iron out a few structural issues.
Watch the next few weeks they'll do well!

I agree teams need to assess the strengths and weaknesses and play to one and protect the other.
If they insist on playing a formation then they need to train the people how to play it.
With 1 team I coached (u13 girls) I started off on 4-4-2 then moved to a 3-2-3-2 as most of the girls I had were first timers and I had few (2) play makers. We didnt win many but we stopped losing by so much. And we turned a lot of results around in the return legs.
Even the big guns play with this mentality.
I know my daugthers club had some mention of sticking to a specific formation which was not working yet the girls weren't coached into new positions and taught how to play them.
