Hi Kitch!!

Was going to put this question to the league today..... so what is it? Unlimited amount of substitutes and substitutions, or is there a cap on both?

Thanks mate! :D

I don't believe there is a limit, providing they are registered and are named on the team sheet.

If you look between the first 11 and the 5 substitues, there is a space, you can usually get a couple more names in there.

but can they play? if we have 5 subs for example, can we rotate them, like AFL?

Anyone noticed that Div 6 start date is one week after all the rest? (9/4)

I said yep, what a concept! I could use a little fuel myself and we could all use a little change.

Really need to clarify. I spoke to Bill Bailey today and he said that Sat Div 7 (C) is like any other competition. You can put 5, 6 subs on the team sheet if you like, but you can still, only make 3 substitutions all game. He said unlike the "over 35's" comp where you can make unlimited substitutions, this division, you can make only 3 subs. I am presuming, although this comp is technically not an over 35's comp, many of the players competing in this league are over 35 and would not mind the luxury of an interchange. Also, this year we will have a surplus amount of players on a weekly basis that have all paid the same rego/ expenses as everyone else for the year. Would like to think that with 5 or 6 players on the interchange, they can all get a run every Saturday... any thoughts???

Different to what was said at the preseason meeting then.

Just confirm before each match that the opponent wants to play interchange and you won't have any worries. Our team in Div 6 last year played interchange all year.

Do what you want as long as both teams consent prior to the game. C teams are all about the club not the league. They are there to give everyone a go at playing our glorious game. Yeah some players are very ordinary but come the end of the season with injuries etc what is the bet you can count on these players to be there so that you can at least field a C team. Interchange is the only way that you can really give everyone a fair go. To be fair if your playing C team your in it for the love of the game.

Well quoted and totally agree. I just think that if we implement the same ruling to this competition (pretty much an over 35's league), we are not treating this competition for what it is. Having the luxury of an interchange would be perfect. We can stack the side with the 15-16 players available to us, all our players get an even run each week and no-one is left out. Supposed to be a more social/ laid back comp. in my opinion. Leave the seriousness to the younger guys in the A's and B's. Plus, I am sure us older fella's wouldn't mind a spell or two through the 90 min game.

The fixtures for the 'C' division (5/6/7) have appeared to change.

Adelaide Uni now in Division 5 (8 teams) as opposed to Division 6.

Southern Breakers inserted into Division 6 (10 teams).

Division 7 now has 9 teams.

The way div 5 is structured looks like 2 teams get a bye every week ? Am I missing something, or should those 2 teams be playing each other ( I wouldve thought ? )

And if you're really itching for games, it may be worth your while getting in touch with the other bye team on your week off, to see if they are up for a friendly.

It's all over the shop, just had a quick look and our C's don't follow the a's & B's once this year, even though there are 3 sides in the same divisions.

Common sense should have taken this into account :x

No. That's why Div 5 has two byes.

I believe our Div 6 'C' team follows our Div 3A and 3B teams.

I haven't paid any attention to Div 7 as we aren't involved.

Also Uni and Breakers should have been entered into Div 7 as that is where other div 2 c's are....It gets worse :x :x

Why wouldn't they do that???

I will be interested in finding out Thursday night at training......Does not make sense.

I haven't paid any attention to the C's draws at all, I took it for granted that where possible the C's would follow their A's and B's

I feel sorry for the league trying to figure out these permutations. I know they probably have software for that, but it's gotta be tough trying to get it all to fit, and in some cases, it just won't.

True, but I doubt that there are enough Div 1 and 2 C sides to make up 2 leagues this year, are there?

Anyway, not going to get drawn into this one. You can go back to arguing with Kitch :)

I don't believe there is a limit, providing they are registered and are named on the team sheet.

If you look between the first 11 and the 5 substitues, there is a space, you can usually get a couple more names in there.
In official competition games, LOTG allow three to seven substitutes to be nominated subject to competition rules - SAASL league competition rules specify a maximum of five substitutes only. In other games, more substitutes can be used so long as the particpating teams agree and the Ref is advised before kick-off. In junior and veterans games, I am pretty sure the LOTG allows interchange however I have not ref'd for a few years and cbf'd looking it up!

I'm not arguing with anyone, just annoyed at the way the C divs have been structured :?

I am just flabbergasted about the way the SAASL has done the 3 "C" comps.

It also doesn't matter if there aren't enough sides of the same div, just put the ones that are in the same Div.

To top it off they couldn't even align the 3 in div 7 to play on the same date

Not really. They should draw up a 1v8, 2v7 3v6 etc. as suggested in this post. No software needed.

This from the league yesterday, turning the competition into a joke!
Saturday Division 4 clubs please note that Adelaide Uni Orange do not have a reserve team and will now kick off at 11.30am on the South Pitch, War Memorial Drive.

Also Mantarays Soccer Club no longer have a reserve side and will be playing at East Marden Primary School, kick off at 3.00pm.

Regards

SAASL Inc - Admin
This means that there are now only 7 teams who will be playing reserve games. Each club already had a a home and away bye round, now they will have two more. Only 12 games for these players!

Good luck to all the coahes explaining to their players that they are now playing four less games!
