In the ressies...
Cumby 6 - 0 Olympic...

Have to say, Cumby have an AMAZING ressies team... they played Olympic right off the park.

Prems
Cumby 2 - 3 Olympic

I think that was the final score... was a good solid game, Cumby did look dangerous at one point and I thought they might even pull an equaliser, but no such luck!

I believe it was, but that doesnt mean the Cumby weren't the better team. Im sure Olympic will improve as the season progresses, but then again so will everybody.

If you'd seen the quality of play from Cumby, you'd probably be agreeing (and yes Leps, we know your not a fan of cumby).

From what I understand Olympic is struggling with numbers in the reserves side with some players filling in and one other in particular called out of retirement :)

this is true also, but again, both teams only had one player on the bench.

Like it or not people, Cumby ressies may be a force this year!

Defensive straight away! it was a genuine question not to take away anything from Cumby! No problem with Cumberland actually nor any club so feel free to reconsider what you know :)

So what was the Panthers-Fulham result? Anyone know?

ball_girl, yes your team played very well yesterday - however next Sunday when Cumby and Metro Ressies play will probably be the real test though

Equalize?? They did! It went to 2 all…maybe could have equalized after it was 3:2 but Olympic lifted a gear especially Wallace once it was 2 all, never really looked like Cumby would come back into it IMO. What with Wallace’s miss and couple of other close ones it could have been more.

Good game though!
Interesting differences Olympic play what looks like a 1352. Olympic determined to retain ball possession, which was quite impressive while also having the attitude and ability to play themselves out of trouble with passing. Questionable change taking off the left mid fielder who was checking back on the Cumby right forward, without that checking Cumby attacked easily and repeatedly on the right and scored, great finish BTW. Olympic cruising till then.
Quigley went 3 (?) times one on one with the GK after beating the defence but couldn’t convert, (one great save) would have changed the complexion of the game had a couple of those been put away. Low conversion rate particularly in 1st half for Olympic. Olympic may struggle with the 3 defenders setup, not quite setup well enough say compared to City's 3 at back, well IMO. Be good to watch City and Olympic go head to head with similar structures - could be a shoot out!

Cumby excellent, good quality play. Great effort to come back from 2 down. Cumby - 1433, always play out from the back with goal kicks to full backs, forwards out wide and generally stay high - very FFA manual on 433, but do swap the centre forward (Slater) with the attacking midfielder regularly. Cumby lost midfield but not surprising with Olympic superior numbers around the ball. Calder desperation in defence saved them quite a few times especially 1st half. But the 3 forwards with left and right out wide eventually worked, as one scored and became avenue for attack so faith in system rewarded! :D Slater and Calder stand out players. Huge improvement in Cumby Prems. Cumby definitely title contenders.

Well done both teams good quality game.

And yes ball_girl Cumby Reserves very good only Metro can challenge from what I have seen.

Wow! What a great post, actually informative!
It would be great to see more of those!
As far as I was told, Olympic should have been 4 or 5 up, but didn't convert and Cumby came back.
Well done to Cumberland though, with Calder, Trimboli, Slater and Harrison they are title contender for sure, it would be a shame otherwise. If these 4 deliver, Cumby will go for the title, no doubt.

They are still missing a 'key' player in midfield who is injured and not sure when she will return. When she does she should combine very well with Slater and Harry to make for a formidable midfield.

just trying to think who...Ebbs has left..RD returned-quality there but not fit...nah can't think...bit harsh on the players doing the midfield role at the moment though.
Besides its bit of rob Peter to pay Paul. Slater plays as no10 then can't be at no9

Think new players have given Cumberland more stability but have many other quality players that will step up-and some others to return! Also a ressies side which contains players that can step up at any stage. Think slater playing up front so midfield spots are there for the right combo.

Olympic could have finished better, however great to see the game leveled after half-time and cumby also had a free kick which narrowly missed and some shots saved. Probably the right result though-Olympic look good.

Will still be a while before she is playing again.
Maybe cg1 is still having therapy after coaching her in U17s a few years ago?!
