What's a State team
what is the idea behind state teams mates involved told me u have to buy the players strip 2000$ + by the time u add in the cost to play interstate for what, to show the other states how good the ffsa is no ones going to take a 12, 13, 14 year old kid into professional academy or AIS so whats the point how many kids made the big time from a state tournament parents are mad if footballers are going to represent the state they should be rewarded with some sort of compensation from the governmment & federations otherwise youre all mugs

I would suggest most Parents (not Mugs) would fork out the cash for these reasons.....Jeda wrote: what is the idea behind state teams mates involved told me u have to buy the players strip 2000$ + by the time u add in the cost to play interstate for what, to show the other states how good the ffsa is no ones going to take a 12, 13, 14 year old kid into professional academy or AIS so whats the point how many kids made the big time from a state tournament parents are mad if footballers are going to represent the state they should be rewarded with some sort of compensation from the governmment & federations otherwise youre all mugs
a) to allow the child to be exposed to elite level training, coaching and competition which can
only improve their game (whether they end up playing A-League or Amateurs).
b) to allow the child the honour of representing the State (for most it may
be their most memorable moment in the game).
c) provide a life experience where they are exposed to methods and routines expected of elite players, also the opportunity to travel with a team interstate and experience the enjoyment this alone brings.
Sure compensation would be fair, but most Parents would do their utmost to allow their Child to be involved, we all have to make sacrifices for our Kids. Whether they end up in an Academy, AIS, SASI or whatever is somewhat irrelevent. At least as Parents we can give them the opportunity, its up to them what they make of it.
Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.

Re: What's a State team
a) there are private academies offering the same, probably for less
b) what's so special about representing the state especially if u have to pay full price. Shouldn't the state governing bodies want to see how they all compare against each other they should & so this requires the best players even those that can't afford it
c) provided by other organizations with better results schools & private organisations
can't see the point of it all neither could the footy, that's why the hey day of state aussie rules football comps died away.

As far as Aussie rules...what has that got to do with Junior soccer?.
Aussie Rules still have Junior State teams that travel, it's only at AFL Senior level that State Comps have stopped (for a miriad of reasons). Even the senior SANFL, WAFL etc still play state matches.
As far as those that can't afford it, I agree that under special circumstances these families should be assisted.
Its not just our game that Junior State representation is mostly funded by the Families themselves, 99% of people would jump at the chance.

If you think kids are not noticed at State tournaments you are a clown. I know of kids that have been identified at 12 years of age because of these tournaments.Look at SASI. They had a 13 year old playing last year and have several 14/15 year olds there this year. AIS currently has a 14 year old there as well. All stemming from State team tournaments.
I know there seems to be problems with the State system set up here in sa, but that doesnt mean kids should miss out on representing their State
Re: What's a State team
don't you go to the nationals/enter the sasi program to aspire to make the joey's or AIS.
Re: What's a State team

Why do kids have to go interstate to be picked up by sasi you've given me nothing other than proof u work for ffsa SASI should be picking kids up from within SA from there they should be the state team going interstate for a tournament with the chance if ais picking up playersslovak wrote: If you think kids are not noticed at State tournaments you are a clown. Re: What's a State team
Representing State/Country is a big deal, real big!
BUT -
1- Are "ALL" the right kids being looked at!
2- Why is there a cost, I'm sure there are very talented kids who cannot afford the said fees!
3- Is the current pathway to represent State and SASI the way to go?
4- Still don't understand why there is a cost attached :?

Re: What's a State team
agreed. maybe FFSA should concentrate on development squads & leave the state squads to SASI - the true state representativeNova wrote:Representing State/Country is a big deal, real big!

wow, an u13 aust team plying their trade around the world who organizes these state & country teams AIS what are the benefits no ones been able to tell me yet
a true, fair & economical system would be for the ffsa to have development squads instead of state squads, for the ffsa to licence private academies, for the zone squads to play each other in a tournament, for SASI to pick payers for state squads to represent the state, for SASI to pick their SASI squad to showcase to AIS easy if ffsa need to charge players for the honour of representing their state it shows that the ffsa have no faith in the team
a true state team would be partially or wholy funded by the state

Re: What's a State team
As it is there are a number of Clubs questioning where the FFA spends its money, how do you think they would react to Youth State teams having 30-40K + spent on each team to go interstate?Jeda wrote:Zeljko Jurin wrote:There is also an Aust u13 team, how are they going to pick this without state teams ?

Out of curiousity are the Nationals always held in NSW? why not share them around to other States?

Thats what does happen ! SASI then State institute challenge under eyes of AIS and National team coaches. Are you just a disgruntled kid that didnt make it perhaps. I will agree with you on one thing however.State representation should be subsidised.

u still upset about everyone's view on the state Futsal teams yes the cost did effect the teams lack of quality & the resulting outcomes which brings us back to what is a state team especially if it's only for those that can afford ittasy wrote:

So Jeda, with your wealth of knowledge of how it should all work, I assume you are out there coaching and doing your bit for the kids ?Jeda wrote:Zeljko Jurin wrote:There is also an Aust u13 team, how are they going to pick this without state teams ?

With everything you wrote up there, isn't it already happening, but replace your 'development' with 'zone', and the tournament you talk about is STIC, and for all these new-beaut ideas you have, there are heaps of talented coaches out there just waiting to make it all happen .....
