All tongue in cheek, Francesco. To be honest, I don't give a flying fuck what anyone else does but I do take exception to those who slag the SAASL management. Not perfect perhaps but not a bad job either over 40+ years.
We as a club have had no real problems with the SAASL. They have served us well. We just feel it is time to try something new and to align ourselves with the junior arm of the club as our youth do not automatically flow into the seniors, which is one of our items in our 5 year plan.
At the end of the day, we will all play football on the weekend, no matter where, with who or in what league.

Just a question
Was relegation in the 5 year plan or did you develop the plan after you got relegated
No doubt the question you've been asking yourselves is "Are our juniors more likely to flow on if the seniors are playing uncompetitively but in a better league, or if they're playing competitively but in a lesser league?"
Unfortunately the answer to the question is: "No matter which you choose they will still flow on to the Hawks."
The solution that I've seen work best is to have an excellent club person as the U/16 or U/17 coach. They openly encouraged our players to flow through. If you have a parent of a good young player as coach, or an ambitious outsider, they will always tend to encourage the kids to go to the Hawks.
Best wishes in your efforts to retain your juniors.

Actually this year we have a LOT of juniors, even a few coming back from the hawks. Relegation, did not even come into discussion during the many many meetings that we have had over the break. We knew we were relegated from the previous year, so be it, it happens.
We were invited by the president of the Collegiate league to come and have a listen to what they had to offer, we went, we listened and we thought that it sounded pretty good so we signed up.
The problems that we have had over the years with the juniors flowing through does include players going to the hawks, but we hope to try to stem the flow a little bit. We have no problem with players going to the hawks, we wish them the best if they do, but we want to try to make ourselves look more professional in the mean time.
Putting 16 year olds in a mens comp is always tough as the size difference is an issue and some of the leagues that we have played in have been a bit 'rough' for the younger kids so we hope that this will assist us in our future endeavours.
I think that I will leave the seniors as president of the senior committee in a beter position than when I arrived 10 years ago, and personally am proud of that fact.
Don't know why there is so much negativity here.... Mount Barker is growing as a club and is a healthier position than it has been for a long time. There's no problems with the SAASL but a genuine plan to try and achieve some flow through from the juniors which has happened this year for the first time. Mount Barker has always picked up the stragglers in the Hills and have proudly offered an opportunity for ALL comers to have a game and become part of social group of like minded people. Bringing football to the locals has been the key driver and some of the negative sniping from others is a bit disappointing. We have moved to a FFSA league purely to build the club as a whole and will be fielding 3 teams again this year (unlike the other recent converts). The club has been building its infrastructure and management group which is has started to pay dividends that will snowball with time. It should be applauded that the Hills clubs have a number of stable and progressive teams that will service the area at ALL levels from the Hawks through Stirling, Hahndorf and then ourselves with affiliations to both leagues.. CHOICE!!
Last season was a transition year which has led to a massive change in personnel and in the profile of the teams with a huge drop in the average age and the addition of over 5 Hawks players who prefer the more casual approach at Barker.
All in all its a good move for the club and good for soccer in the Hills...

Once again well done Mt Barker, your club should look at this as step in the right direction for your club and a victory for Hills football, as we at the FFSA look at this as a strategic victory in being able to provide amateur football in the Hills. Disregard any comments from the ignorant Mr Rob Lozza, who obviously carries a rather large chip on his rather large shoulders.

It's this sort of statement that is rubbish though isn't it? You can build a club just as easily under the SAASL as under the FFSA.
Unless what you are saying is that the SAASL league was just too strong for you to be able to transition your juniors.
If that's your case, then yes moving to the CSL may well make it easier for your juniors to make the step to seniors.

Mr Carter, the unprofessional nature of your posts in this thread is astounding.

none of the leagues here are rough.
They are to a bunch of 16 year olds, in their first couple of years out of age competitions. It's always a learning curve. Just because you were "tougher", and from a "tougher" league, doesn't mean that kids here don't struggle.

Now I know you are definitely pissed off with me for ignoring your Facebook friend request.

Yeh yeh whatever....It has nothing to do with the SAASL being too strong, too easy , too anything but if you insist in making it a point so be it..Shallow argument with little substance though.
The juniors were already in the Federation and we have had many obstacles in funding, progression, transition etc because of this. The decision was made to make this link simpler for OUR club and had nothing to do with last season or how 'tough' whatever league is / was. You are happy with your position and we with ours.... Don't understand why its an issue at all for you and your entire point is the actual rubbish. Don't ask that you understand, don't ask that you agree, don't ask for your opinion in all honesty... No need for the antagonistic approach at all but if that makes up for your insecurity.....Carry on diddums

Does organising a friendly with our club, not turning up at all, not even bothering to contact us to tell you that you have cancelled count as looking more professional? Had to take a call from our president to your cabernet of a team manager to find out you had decided to go play Southern Breakers instead. I now understand why I've had a lot of Mt Barker players come to our club this year if that's how well you are organised.

Nailed it. Think Kev Bailey at Stirling 5 or so years ago....
Dear Alan and all the C team at stirling. I am sorry about the no show for the game on sat . I totally forgot about a C team trial. We already had As and Bs booked for that weekend as i advised Leki. I hope both of our old players manage to help you this season. Im sure they will thrive under you coaching ability and leadership.

Because it is..... Our A and B's have been due to play the Breakers for over a month.... No body 'decided' to play them instead. The C team co-ordinator made a mistake regarding a C team trial for which he apologised.... That is the reality...now build a bridge....
