Won eighteen league titles without him, yet to win one with him :D

Coady looks the goods. Seem to fall apart at the back after Sama's dismisal. Man Utds keeper had a decent game.

Yeah. I know young players are all too often compared to the greatest and end up doing nothing with themselves, but I see a few similarities between the styles of Coady and Gerrard. That's not to say he's going to be anywhere near as good as Gerrard, but there are definitely some similarities in the way that they both play.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard begins rehabilitation

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has started his rehabilitation following surgery on his groin, manager Kenny Dalglish has said.

The 30-year-old England midfielder underwent surgery last week and is expected to be out for about a month.

Dalglish commented: "Steven has had his operation and he feels good - he has started his rehabilitation already."

Gerrard suffered the injury in Liverpool's 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 6 February.

He has already missed Liverpool's Europa League defeat by Braga and will be unavailable for the return leg at Anfield on Thursday.

Reports had suggested that Gerrard would be out for four weeks following his operation.

That scenario would see him miss Premier League games against Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City.

Dalglish's best hope will be to have Gerrard available for the season run-in. The Liverpool boss is already without 19-year-old midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who was ruled out for three months with a knee tendon injury in February.

Gerrard was forced to sit out five games for the Reds at the end of 2010 after tearing a hamstring during England's 2-1 defeat at home by France in November.

The player will also miss England's Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales on 26 March.

Oh well, season already over halfway through March. Never mind, at least you won your cup final against United at Anfield so the season hasn't been a complete failure.

I think next season will definitely be Liverpool's year. :D

It must have been exciting watching them in Europe this season. Their fans have been treated to a feast of goals. King Kenny has really turned things around.

As quoted before, woy got to the final. Only bought in 3 players and sold how many???? And yet you continue to blame him for the fat waiters uselessness. Even Inter were sittin 8th when they sacked him. Where are Inter in the serie a table after he left............

hopefully :D
starting from scratch next season with KK will be much better than the piss poor performances we gave for the first 10 games under Woy (although he did inherit Rafa's side.....but he did bring us Meireles :) ). injured players to come back and be fit for start of next season will be positive as well, just a bit worried with our depth. as this morning showed, without gerrard and/or suarez we lack creativity in going forward and play very one-dimensional, perhaps a few signings pre-season may help to change that

Alberto Aquilani looks set for a Liverpool return at the end of the season as Juventus appear reluctant on paying €15 million to keep him permanently.

The 26-year-old Italian midfielder joined the Bianconeri on loan in the summer with the Turin-based club having an option to buy him permanently at the end of their deal with Liverpool in June.

However, Sky Sport Italia reports directors at Vinovo are not intent on paying the Reds €15m price tag.

They are hoping Liverpool lower their demands, and, if that doesn’t happen, the former Roma man will head back to Anfield.

Meanwhile, Ilsussidiario.net reports Juventus as having offered Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo, whose contract expires at the end of the season, a three-year deal in preparation for Aquilani’s exit.

Pirlo, 31, is said to have received a pay offer worth €3.5m per annum from the Old Lady, but Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea are also believed to be in the frame as his deal with the Rossoneri expires in June.?

Many sources claim that Alberto Aquilani is not too keen on coming back to Merseyside but it seems his time at Juventus will come to an end this summer as the Turin side refuse to pay the £13m that Liverpool are demanding, a fee that seems more than appropriate given the successful stint the Italian has put in at the Serie A side this season.

However maybe the Italian will look at the way Liverpool have seemingly overcome problems from the tail end of the Rafa Benitez era and the brief period that Roy Hodgson was running things and he may well still have a part to play at the club.

One would wonder just how the 26 year old Italian international would fit into the starting eleven, not least because Lucas, Steven Gerrard and Raul Meireles are all much improved since the turn of the year. There may be other offers from Italy but the Anfield side will not look to sell a player of Aquilani’s quality on the cheap.
impact player off the bench?
or try and sell him off?

if you guys don't keep aquilani, i'm convinced everyone is an idiot in Liverpool!!

He's the best cover for Mereiles you've got imo, will mean you can rotate gerrard out and play Mereiles deeper so that Stevie doesn't get injured all the time!

Dalglish and Clarke to be offered 2 year deals?
www.thisisanfield.com

Liverpool have offered Kenny Dalglish a two-year deal to be permanent manager of the club, as well as a two-year deal for Head Coach, Steve Clarke.

Principal owner John Henry last week denied that talks had begun as regards making the duo permanent staff at the club, but the American businessman flew over to Merseyside this week and was in attendance at Thursday’s Europa League exit to the hands of Braga.

Dalglish was appointed as caretaker boss in January after Roy Hodgson parted company with the club after just six months in the Anfield hot seat and 14 games in looks set to sign a permanent deal.

His immediate appointment of Clarke in his coaching team was hailed as a stroke of genius, with an immediate improvement in the team’s performances, and the individual performances of several players.

It is understood that Henry and club Chairman, Tom Werner, are keen to tie up the deal in time for the summer months so that a progressive transfer window can be had.

More to follow over the next few days, we’re sure

Let's hope that groin is ok... What a goal though. Carroll and Suarez partnership looks really promising.

On a side note, thought Jay Spearing had his best game for the club. What a difference Agger makes to the back four.

Agreed, not just because he played a hand in winning the penalty but his game in the second half in particular was much better. Carroll looked good considering his lack of game time in recent months. Suarez is just a freak.

I'm a little apprehensive with Carroll......our game style is now all over the place just aiming for his head. He's decent on the deck as well.

Spearing and Lucas were tremendous off the ball, on the ball IMHO they were both below par.
But what a difference Agger makes, a calming influence at the back. Shades of Alan Hansen striding out of defence with the ball at his feet.

FYI for anyone doubting how important D Agger is for Liverpool:

Last six games without Agger: W1 D3 L2
Last six games with Agger : W6 D0 L0 - all clean sheets.

The hoofness of the ball is reduced about 80% with him + Skrtl suddenly remembers how to defend again alongside him.

When fit, 2nd most important player after Pepe.

i think with time we will be able to tweak our game and work out the best way to utilise the strength of andy in the air together with suarez on the deck. i know what you are saying with the hoof, and i agree, but he is just unbelievable in the air and in the case where it is knocked up to him he often gets it on the deck where we are able to play. like you said though, on the deck he is not bad [the flick he did on the half way line to open up play for meirelles on the counter leading to the send off i think] and so if we are able to achieve that balance then i feel they will be a threat.

suarez is a freak player. great goal. good skill and has an engine on him. don't like meireles playing out wide though. he is brilliant through the middle. would have prefered if he is played through the middle with lucas. johnson gets beaten too easily for a first choice england call up though. nice result away from home anyways. finally we can get points away. not too far off spurs either who have the ucl to worry about
