Hopefully the announcement of a C Grade Cup is on the cards.

(at least 5 forumites in the crowd for this one tonight)

Notes from this meeting:

Over 35
- Over 35 rules in 2011 will be the same as 2010
- there will be a Saturday Over 35 competition if 8 or more clubs enter
- if there is a Saturday competition, those teams will be entered in the Over 35 Cup and in that Cup it will be the same as the other Cups in where the team that is pulled out first hosts the match at their ground on their respective playing day
- the Over 35 Cup will be a knock-out (although they didn't actually confirm that, did they lefty?)

C Grade
- the SAASL wants teams to be conservative on entering C teams this year as they had too many pullouts last year in the Sunday C divisions
- there will be no C Grade Cup - the concern from the SAASL (justified IMO) is that A Grade players will drop down two levels to this Cup and thus defeat its purpose
- 'C Grade' leagues will have interchange again in 2011

Other
- there will be a preseason meeting soon, date TBA
- clubs with affiliated junior teams will be able to register junior players for $10, so as to give those junior players a 'pathway' into senior football should the club so choose to select them in any of their senior teams

Deadline for entering C teams and Over 35 teams is next Monday 7 March so please enter them asap.

BTW, hello to Alex who said he reads the forum.

Last correspondence was in October last year. There were 14 clubs who 'expressed an interest' at that point. I know of at least 2 who are no longer entering.

Who knows what has happened in the months since?

My only concern re the competition is that it has taken this long to announce it, so clubs may have lost any momentum that they had at that time.

I think Kick off times will effect whether our club enters.

As it is most of the older members that run the BBQ, Refereeing duties etc for the A's and B's.

No Kitch they didnt quite answer the question clearly but I doubt very much they will have the same round robin set up in the 35's cup like last year. Will depend on the Sat comp registrations but it will be good to have a Sat & Sun combined cup.

The best decision is the e&d juniors being able to play SAASL seniors been asking for it for the last 2 years well done to both associations.

It shouldn't be just E&D, if teams have talented junior players in their JSL pathway (ie Fulham), they should also be allowed to do the same thing.

Agree but there's no talent at Fulham :P

Unfortunately the way the associations are at the moment it aint going to happen but one day it will hopefully & that would be a true "pathway" (I hate seeing this word it gets flogged).

Correct they just need to be registered with SAASL ($10) & any DC issues ie yellow & red cards will be dealt with by E&D

What a joke that was.
The secret to Zarate lies in the mind and heart, not in the hands.

Agreed. I don't think it should happen at all. There is a rule which is put in place to say that you can't have dual registration, yet this will be dual rego.

i dont mind it, but yes jpl should not be affiliated as its FFSA and they have not done aby favours when trying to merge with SAASL
