SASI/WLeague players rules?

Post by Easy Tiger »

I heard that the SASI rule changed and all the SASI players from last year can't go to clubs that have already 3 or more SASI players. So, even if they don't play SASI anymore in 2011 they are still considered SASI players if they want to join a club? Is this the same as it was before or how is this going to affect players?

Does anyone know more about this? Obviously on the FFSA website there isn't anything about this...

I find it all so confusing :(

I dont think it will be such an issue this year,as we currently dont appear to have the stand out players we have had in the past. It would be for the betterment of the game,if the players were spread evenly,as they would all have some experience they could pass on to other players

Retired, I thought that the SASI rule applied to current SASI players only.

I think ET is saying that this year instead will apply to past players, the ones from 2010. I'm pretty sure that last year the rule was for 2010 SASI players and not for 2009 players. For WLeague players this was different, they were classed WL players if they played WL in the previous year, but SASI players from the previous year were no longer classed as such.

As far as I have been invovled with sasi the rule has always been past and present players of sasi...

so if a player played for sasi in say 2009 but not in 2010 they are still classed as sasi in 2010 season.
but they are free player in 2011

so for example

Joe Blow played in the sasi squad last year...2010.....this year she got dropped and has not been invited out...she is still classed as sasi player for the year 2011. she will be free from sasi duty in 2012.

I have heard rumours tho that anyone starting in sasi this year (2011) will not be classed as SASI until next year.(2012)...not sure if this is true or not yet tho..

Thanks for this, I must have been confused all this time then :D
So what's the new rule now? As far as I knew, all the 2011 SASI players were supposed to play for clubs too. I think that's what you say too!

From what I have heard.........

The FFSA has relaxed the rule and all sasi players can play for a club.... whether they are full scholarship or part...

Next year SASI will be entering a sasi team in the 2012 premier league division which will have a younger squad and they will not be able to play for any other clubs.. so this will fix the sasi rule...

Adelaide United girls were encouraged to play for club but they dont have to as now we are still unsure of what is happening with the team...

The rule is still in place that you can only have 3 W-league and 3 sasi players per club....

Please do not quote me on any of this as i am not 100 percent sure but only that this is what I have heard...

I heard that the WLeague players have actually being "forced" to play for clubs. Apparently they have been told that they have to find themselves a club if they want to be part of united.

And (this seems like a joke though, because it's really NOT possible  ) that Barnett is going to stay on as a coach.

Well only a dozen of the current w-league squad live in Adelaide. And why should 2010/2011 squad members get a free ride, no matter whether Barnett or Joe Bloggs is coach.Put some pressure on every one, those that have been there and those up and comers who think they should be there. The logical thing is to do that at club level.
