Video: The fastest red card ever: Preston Edwards (Ebbsfleet United) v FarnboroughThe goalkeeper lasted just 10 seconds before getting his marching ordersBy 101 Great Goals9 Feb 2011 10:50:0047Share Ebbsfleet United, the club previously best known for being owned and run by their community of fans, had a disastrous day last Saturday as the Conference South side absorbed a 3-0 home hammering at the hands of Farnborough.
It took just 10 seconds for Ebbsfleet's afternoon to go down the toilet.
The Fleet pressed the self-destruct button straight from kick-off, as Ryan Blake’s under-hit backpass was easily intercepted by Farnborough forward Kezie Ibe. That forced home keeper Preston Edwards to rush off his line in order to snuff out the one-on-one with Ibe, but the nifty striker was able to go around the goalie only to be hauled down for a penalty.
Referee Neil Hair, faced with little option, brandished the red card to Edwards with only 10 seconds on the clock. In turn the keeper threw a major hissy-fit on the pitch, mainly directed at left-back Blake for his woeful backpass.
Without a replacement goalkeeper on the bench, Ebbsfleet coach Liam Daish handed the green jersey to 18-year-old midfielder Tom Phipp, but he was unable to keep out Bradley Bubb’s low spot-kick.
Preston Edwards' red card can be seen be seen below:

Found this (fastest yellow card.....but still):
The infamous Vinnie Jones incident
Vinnie Jones was a professional soccer player who currently holds the record for fastest yellow card (3 seconds). This incident took place in 1987. The unfortunate chap on the receiving end is Newcastle United's Paul Gascoigne. I don't think Vinnie ever expected to be caught on film for it but the shot has been immortalized by soccer fans. He's definitely soccer's ultimate mean machine

Re: fastest red card ever.
Some guy in England in the 80's got sent off as the teams walked onto the pitch for head-butting an opponent.
The older I get the better I was.

1989 World Cup qualifier in Santiago de Chile, Romario sent off just before kick-off as the teams were lining at the half-way line.

Re: fastest red card ever.
It was ridiculous. Ref blew for kick off, opposition encroached before ball touched, ref books player standing over ball who had his arms in the air and pointing to opposition players rushing in. Like I said, ridiculous.Zeljko Jurin wrote:For shirt not tucked in ???Bomber wrote:I've seen a yellow card issued before the game even kicked off.
