What do you mean typical Gardens we cant help it if good players want to be at our club.

What is typical though is that you tell us what new players we have but dont tell who you have.

Rocket launcher stashed in suburbs Nigel Hunt From: Sunday Mail (SA) February 06, 2011

A DEADLY rocket launcher more at home in Afghanistan has been found in suburban Adelaide.
The weapon - which, when armed, can destroy a tank or possibly bring down a passenger jet - was discovered when detectives raided a Parafield Gardens house during an investigation into violent crime being committed by associates of the Finks bikie gang.

It is unknown how the man charged over the discovery, Serge Zaporoshenko, 27, who associates with the targets of the Crime Gangs Task Force investigation, obtained the rocket launcher.

The weapon, an M72 LAW (light anti-tank weapon) is almost 30 years old and, while it had been converted to use high-velocity training rounds, it can fire an improvised explosive device and can be modified back to fire the rockets it was designed for.

Zaporoshenko is facing four charges in connection with the weapon, which belongs to the Australian Army.

He faces three charges under the Firearms Act, namely possession of a prescribed firearm without holing a licence, possession of an unregistered firearm and acquiring a rocket launcher without holding a permit.

Court documents also reveal he is facing one count of theft by "retaining, converting, disposing of or otherwise dealing with property namely a rocket launcher of a value involving $2500 or less the property of the Australian Army".

Zaporoshenko appeared in Elizabeth Magistrates Court last week and was remanded on continuing bail. He will formally answer the charge in May. After being arrested in December he was given bail with strict conditions including that he remain at his home address between 10pm and 6am, not possess any firearms and not possess any Defence Force property.

A Defence spokesperson yesterday said attempts had been made to trace the origins of the launcher, but its identification had been removed which prevented this and it was unknown if it had been either lost or stolen.

However, the spokesman said stringent control requirements were introduced for MR72 Light Armour Weapons in 2007 following a security review, which "have also been applied to empty rocket launchers such as this one".

"Each M72LAW is now individually traced from the time it is received by Defence until the time that the empty launcher is destroyed," the spokesman said.

He said at present there were no empty M72 launchers that were either missing or unaccounted for. Crime Gangs Task Force detective Superintendent Des Bray declined to comment at length on the discovery, but said the weapon had been returned to the Army after being located.

"It is a concern that people have possession of any illegal firearms or weapons such as this," he said.

He said that since November, 2007, CGTF detectives had seized 203 firearms - 68 handguns and 135 other rifles or weapons - from bikie gang members or their associates.

And since Firearm's Prohibition Orders were introduced in 2008, 25 orders had been issued against gang members or associates preventing them from possessing any firearm. Those subject to an order face up to 15 years jail if they breach it.

So far one person has been charged with breaching an order, which allows police to search them or their house at random. In 29 such searches detectives have found drugs and weapons.

"The penalty appears to have reduced the likelihood of gang members carrying guns in public places and even possessing them at home," Supt Bray said.

"The current firearms legislation gives us another tool to lawfully stop and search gang members, particularly in entertainment venues to ensure they are not armed."

Not quite as Para Hills East are hosting the Mayors Cup games at Gardens with their bbq & drinks. The Police teams dont have a ground so play their games north & south each year. We played Brahma at their ground last year so returning the favour this year & Cichanowski well when you win everything I suppose you deserve to host it. Iggies probably want to replay the cup game after losing at Gardens last year. Its swings & roundabouts some years you have some games at home sometimes you have none the good thing is we have lots of quality games leading up to round 1.

To answer your question swanny...yes it is good for the bank.
But there are alot of grounds who must play away due to cricket pitches etc.
Last the Brahma hosted Parafield Gardens for a friendly and it was a great day for the bar and to catch up with mates. Im sure all the Brahma guys will be returning the favor this year in anticipation of another great day. :D
