Queensland Flood relief

Post by andyb »

I have just posted a comment on a cricket forum suggesting a charity day to be organised between clubs to try and raise money to be given to the Queensland flood relief and/or red cross to aid Queenslanders in this time of need. If ANYONE is interested in helping organise a day to raise money for our fellow Australians please PM me. If you can offer a club room (with a cricket pitch) maybe your company is willing to sponsor the day by covering the licenses and insurances that will be required for the day to go ahead? ALL help would be much appreciated by myself and of course by all of those people who are in need of ANY help we can offer.

With so many big amateur sporting clubs (especially out North) it would be an absolute shame if we all sat back and did nothing!!!

There is the Western, Mayors and Playford Pre Season cups happening shortly. Maybe prize money or some donations could be taken at these events considering a lot of other clubs come down to have a look.

Fair point that it would be good to see clubs get behind the cause

good thinking Jay - these people are going to need money for a long time! The water will recede soon but the clean up will take a VERY long time. If I can manage to organise this cricket day all we really require from soccer clubs and their members is to show up, have a beer and chuck a gold coin or two into a collection bucket. Like I said, every $$$ will count!

we have already organised 6 teams for the games mate. It is a combined U23s from PDCA & CCCA vs the Imparja XI - a 'Masters' game, PDCA Over33s vs CCCA Over 33s and the "feature" game is an open selection PDCA first XI vs CCCA first XI

With the day being organised so quickly it was easier for those preparing/selecting the teams to do it from within the associations they play in...

we have also had a bouncy castle offered to us for the day from 11am-5pm so some more entertainment for the little ones!

should be a good day out, have been reading the cricket forums and at such short notice looks like everyone is pitching in. should get some good numbers down there also, looking forward to having a hit and all for a good cause.
You go on the p*ss all day, you've ballooned out like the Pillsbury Doughboy!
You could go to jail for this! What sort of system am I going to play then? Three across the middle and one in bloody Pentonville? *Mike Basset*
