Did Barry coach and play there back in the mid to late 80's?

He was my first senior team coach back in about '83, I think, when he was player/coach, great mentor to the younger players then. I wonder whether he would be intersted in a couple of half decent Colts players from up the hill.

So you say that you will stay on the sidelines and support the gully, but on a public forum you are pretty much saying you will send some colts from your club to another?? Why not tell them to have a crack at the seniors at TTG? There is a new coach and possibly more opporunites now they are in div3.
Are you possibly a parent with frustrations about the lack of communication and pathways? Maybe this is due to the gully constantly changing coach and therefore they dont really get an opportunity to work with the juniors (coaches and players) once they are settled in......

If all else fails, Easties are always looking for young talent. (see previous topic on preseason)

I think I was pretty open about my opinions re TTG's lack of communication with and development of juniors at the club. True, a new coach may have some impact upon that, but it's the club culture that's failing at the moment. I was interested to hear that Barrie Cook was still coaching at Brahma Lodge. Now, from what I knew of him 20 odd years ago, he was the sort of club person that could develop youth.

At the end of the day, the lads will decide where they want to play, just looking at all options available.

Well said East 17, keep them up the Gully Kramd, get em to come out pre-season and see how they go. Jimmy Stocco is a very good coach with good ideas who has been developing kids at fed clubs for the last couple of years, so I would say he has what it takes to develop a few colts. Look forward to seeing these guys at pre season come the end of the month..

Thanks for your input guys.
The lads have enjoyed playing juniors with TTG, so will probably go out to pre season with the seniors. They'll soon make up their own minds about whether thay fit or not. It's a fair jump from Colts to Seniors and I don't believe any SAASL club has got the perfect transition programme in place. The one thing that will make it easier for the juiniors is having a coach that works well with youth, so let's hope Jimmy Stocco is right for TTG.
