Carlos Vela to Chievo

Chievo Verona are leading the chase to sign Arsenal forward Carlos Vela.

Vela, 21, has struggled to command a regular first-team place at Emirates Stadium following his move to the north London club back in 2005.

The Mexico international was sent out on loan to Salamanca and Osasuna and was hoping he would get his chance to stake his claim in the Arsenal attack.

But with Arsene Wenger bringing in Andrey Arshavin and Marouane Chamakh, Vela has fallen further down the pecking order and is keen to get his career back on track.

Reports in Italy suggest that Chievo have already contracted Arsenal about a move for the talented youngster and hope to finalise a deal when the transfer window re-opens.
