Holger Osieck
does anyone think this guy is doing a good job?
i havent seen a single convincing performance since he took charge. he's been lucky with results up til now, but the chickens came home to roost this morning.

Re: Holger Osieck
in my opinion hes done well since taking over in very short space of time. its no shame loosing to egypt... they are no. 1 in africa and undoubtedly a excellent side. no need for worry.
Re: Holger Osieck
he is seeing his options, we never have been full strength and i believe is testing the depth to see who he needs of his overseas stars for qatar, and then knows the talent pool for a tilt at brazil, tough time to come in with a squad in transistion, tournament coming up and a new game plan to be instilled in the players, needs time, hopefully everything gels before wc quals

its no shame losing to Egypt, and the result was expected, however in every game they've played so far under Osieck, they seem to have the defensive constitution of swiss cheese..and its not like they're creating a whole lot more opportunities as a result.the_gun wrote:in my opinion hes done well since taking over in very short space of time. its no shame loosing to egypt... they are no. 1 in africa and undoubtedly a excellent side. no need for worry.
they're putting a lot of faith in Harry Kewell to be the difference between a team that is barely holding its own and a team that can do well at the Asian Cup.
this was a thrashing of Germany proportions, lets make no mistake. an honorable 2-0 loss would be no shame, but this was a damp squib.
Egypt even had the luxury to sub half of their team at 60 minutes such was their dominance, and even their B-team dominated.

Re: Holger Osieck
was never going to be an easy job with all our main players at the end of the career....
We'll struggle for a year or two I reckon....

made even harder with one of our next up and coming strikers being involved with gangs and stabbings :?Blotto wrote:was never going to be an easy job with all our main players at the end of the career....

Re: Holger Osieck
He's better than Pim to say the least. More positive and I like the fact he has faith in A-League players.
Re: Holger Osieck
I thought we were shite. Whats the point of attacking continuously in the air when we have noone to finish off. What about doing what Eygpt did and play the ball on the ground in the front third. That performance is as bad as I've seen. Pathetic tactics, pathetic skill, no pace. Surely Burns would be a star in this team. Where's a creative midfielder - we dont have one. Where's the pace up front. Slow at CB, Carney not up too it - gees.
Re: Holger Osieck
i think we should be playing our youngsters bcoz the players that are playing now are going to be way too old and slow next world cup! our under 19s team has players with huge potential in it, we should be looking to develop those players for the next world cup

the only difference i see is his public personaRed-4-Life wrote:He's better than Pim to say the least. More positive and I like the fact he has faith in A-League players.
he is well trained in this regard and it is quite easy for him to learn from Pim's experiences with Australia in this area.
if you read between the lines i dont think he rates the A-league any higher than Pim. and Pim did select A-league players for the Socceroos despite myths that say otherwise.
dont think he is any better IMO

Re: Holger Osieck
Possibly no better - the jury is out on that one
Definitely more positive - couldn't be any worse

I'm with you on this. Sasa wasn't impressive in debut which is harsh but need to develop young talent. Really like Amini - what a gun.
