Re: Black Kits
God is an Englishman: I am so glad to have come across a fellow "refereeing tradition" enthusiast such as yourself. Your seemingly outnumbered struggle is in need of support from myself. I don't understand why more people don't get the importance of tradition - especially when it comes to a referees uniform! I am slightly more Conservative than yourself and believe that the referee's blazer should also be reinstated as part of the modern uniform.
The legend of the referee lives on!
Remember that game when the ref did such a good job that no one noticed or criticized him. That was a great game! That's what people pay to see! A great performance by a ref wearing his traditional black number complete with blazer! FIFA should rename the sport "refereeball" because they are so important and their traditions should be upheld and cherished.
Maybe one day a small child will dream not of playing football (hopefully renamed refereeball) and instead wish to be the best referee the world has ever seen. Then eventually all the worlds children will share this common goal, to the point that there are no actual footballers and just referees and linesmen/women. What a fantastic day that will be! I look forward to it so. Then this thread will finally end due to the now irrelevant arguments of whether referees should have to carry 3 shirts on them to each match.
But, alas, not everyone understands the importance of keeping the tradition on the referee's uniform alive. You should really consider starting a petition, or an awareness group. Maybe print brochures with something along the lines of "Are you aware that traditionally referees wore all black? Are you also aware that due to the selfishness of a few clubs this tradition could well be broken in our lifetime?" That ought to get everyones attention. Then letterdrop.
With your superior grasp of the Internet as per exemplified time and time again on this forum, might I suggest a facebook page? Imagine 1,000,000 fans! Wow! The sky truly is the limit!
I wish you well and hope you succeed in your quest to 'keep tradition alive!'

is this aimed at the tradition of referees wearing black kits, or the traditions of certain club to wear black kits though.

Nothing to do with the SAASL.Lou Kaniko wrote:Bomber wrote:at "tradition". Let's go back to ankle high boots, laced up balls, abolish the back pass rule etc etc. Listen to yourselves! In case you hadn't noticed, it is 2010.
SAASL need to move with the times simple as that.

The facts. I was a SAASRA member until last year and I can assure you the SAASL do not tell SAASRA what to wear.Lou Kaniko wrote:What makes you say that?Rob Lozza wrote: Nothing to do with the SAASL.

One is the league, one is the referees assocation... you'll find their equivalents would be different in most places.

So in reality the refs association have no mandate to dictate what colour shirts teams are able to wear.

Re: Black Kits
Which I assume given the colours of shirts in other leagues & in international competition doesn't prohibit the use of black shirts? I am sure that someone can clarify that point.
So as I said they have no mandate to enforce what colour shirts teams play in.

they have the ultimate mandate. An A grade game requires a SAASL appointed ref for it to take place. The game won't take place if a team clashes with the ref.

The FFA are putting this in all around the country. The SAARA are following that mandate.Lou Kaniko wrote:Bomber wrote:at "tradition". Let's go back to ankle high boots, laced up balls, abolish the back pass rule etc etc. Listen to yourselves! In case you hadn't noticed, it is 2010.

What does it have to do with the SAASL?
Re: Black Kits
Why should the SAARA have to follow the mandate when the SAASL, which is the competition the officiate in, have no affiliation with the FFA?Jay Not Walking wrote:The FFA are putting this in all around the country.
