I would be very interested to know what they think ?
Having being involved more as a spectator then a coach of recent years, it seems to me that there doesnt seem to be as many of the more experienced players playing at the top level any more, even though in my opinion they are probably still good enough.
Is it their choice,or are they being "encouraged to play at a lower level" - i just feel they could be more valuable passing on their experience to fellow young and learning Premier players instead of in the divisional grades ?
Lets all keep the topic going,we are bound to come up with an agreeable situation eventually.
I think last year when reserves were removed showed us that players would prefer to stay where they are, we just had div 2 ending up stronger than div 1.
Now I am confused ? would Reserves players not want to play in the highest competition, isnt that why they are playing Reserves ?
You cant have a competition where if you win division 1,you earn promotion into the Reserves league ?

I think what was meant was that if the fringe players playing in reserves sides at current premier league clubs wanted to play in the highest division (Premier League) then one option available to them is to promote 2-3 of the top division 1 sides and have these fringe players move to these clubs. Well I think that was what was meant.
I think that's what was meant..
Also ARodgers is correct (and it was clear top anyone involved at that level in 2009) that in 2009 the Reserves league was 'removed', with Prems clubs Reserves teams being forced down into Div2 & 3.
The players preferred to stay at their clubs and play Div2 than move to another club, so we ended up with the situation where Div2 was effectively a stronger/higher div than Div1. Div2 just became 'Reserves' with a different name! Also I seem to remeber there was a backlash from div3 teams who didn't want Reserves level teams in their league.
FFSA tried to force girls hands to move to div1 clubs by getting rid of Reserves that year, but it failed completely and Reserves was re-introduced the very next season.
Would it be the same if they were looking at moving to newly promoted Prems clubs instead of to Div1 clubs looking to win Div1 and get promotion? I dont know...that's what some people are trying to get the answer to.

I dont understand why Reserve players only want to play against other Reserve Players ? Why wouldnt they look at the opportunity of going to a strong division 1 side who has ambitions of playing Premier soccer and help them, and play against Premier teams everyweek,as opposed to the next best. It would be a case of short term pain for long term gain.

I think what you really need to ask is is the question which was in the last line of my previous post;

Never mind them moving to a Div 1 side, they won't even move to a struggling prems side, as seen with what happened to Para Hills and CCSC this past season.
themagnet makes a very good point.
I was going to say the same in my last post, but thought I would just pose the question and see if anyone else would come up with that answer too.

This gives opportunity for girls living in the growing areas whom aspire to play at the highest level to have a Premier League club in their area.
If the same rules apply re SASI/W-League number restrictions still apply this should benefit these 2 clubs. Also the competition overall.
Makes sense to have Premier League clubs in the growing areas.
Agrees with Beaches on this one Gawler and Panthers knew before the season if they won there division they were expected to go up and they are in growing areas
