Due to players being promoted to 17s and 19s age groups, playing opportunities still exist for Modbury's Under 16 JPL team in 2011.

Where did all your 15's go from the season just gone. They certainly wouldn't be pushing for 17's and 19's spots?
At least is sounds like you are promoting youth down there or are you simply short of numbers at Modbury?

Assuming there are 3 divisions, A, B and C, Modbury u16s will be in B Division next season. If only A and B divisions, would be assuming Modbury and Croydon would be staying up to make up a 12 team Under 16A league. This will not be confirmed by the FFSA until all club nominations are submitted in January and they can calculate how many teams for JPL and how many will comprise JSL.
2010 U15s players have made Modbury 17s, some players also trying for Modbury 19s. A couple of others have gone to amateurs and one or two trying for 17s at other clubs. A great bunch of boys, been to two Gold Coast Cups with them, and I wish them all the very best in the future.

Why would this years Modbury U15's having only won 2 games all season want to jump to 17 A's or even 19's next season? Whats the point?theone wrote:Assuming there are 3 divisions, A, B and C, Modbury u16s will be in B Division next season. Surely most would have benefited from playing in the 16 B Div. next year where results indicate they belong.

The position of a team is never an indication of how skilled all of the players are in that team. Its not the whole team going to the 17s!! There are players in that team (my son included) who didn't make or didn't trial for the 17s and they are more than happy to play 16bs "where they belong". But Big Mac if you think that players shouldn't try and play up because they are in a lower division then where would your son be nowWhy would this years Modbury U15's having only won 2 games all season want to jump to 17 A's or even 19's next season? Shit! The mentality of some of the football parents in this state never ceases to amaze me.

I am guessing by "The Ones" post he is involved at Modbury.prefly wrote:The position of a team is never an indication of how skilled all of the players are in that team. Surely most would have benefited from playing in the 16 B Div. next year where results indicate they belong." whats the point " Really that is one of the dumbest statements ever on this forum. Isn't that what trials are for - to see if you are good enough to make those higher teams, and its up to the coaches of those teams to decide if they are ready to play up, not some blinkered hypocrite to decide.

In his post he says...."Modbury U15s have gone to 17s and 19's."
It says nothing about players going to 16's.
Of course there would be players capable of playing 17's and 19's, thats why in my post I said MOST would have benefited playing in the 16's, not ALL! Results aren't everything but without seeing them play it is a guide, thats why I queried why the jump over the 16's.
Wasnt meant to offend anyone down there, obviously offended you.
If some players are playing 16s good luck to them, will push through when they are ready.
As far as my comment "whats the point", I have seen players play up before they are ready, can do more harm than good in my opinion.
