Galaxy under 14's coach
Had to comment on this guys antics for the last game of the 2010 season.
1) dropped 3 players back from the under 15's to play. (i know its allowed)
2) After his side conceded their first goal the coach turned towards our parent supporter and dropped kicked the spare match ball he was holding just over their heads. (the ball ended up on the Camden footy oval) - we were told by the team manager ' sorry' but he's a passionate coach..
3) He didn't like the decision made by the ref and swore. Parents ask him to refrain from swearing as their were kiddie present and he started up a swearing rant 'fuck you fucken fuck heads'. The opposition coach asked him the relax and was told to shut the fuck up.
4) At the end of the game he would not shake the oppositions coaches hand.
5) I went past the change rooms 15 minutes after the game and heard him yelling at his team. (it was the last game of the year)
If i was on the Galaxy committee i would piss this guy off before good players are lost from the club.
Some people just cant hack the pressure cooker environment of junior football

There are some good people at Birks though

Amazing how much a Kid can learn when he/she is confident and enjoying the game.
Some coaches need to get a video of themselves coaching and watch it back.
Was speaking to someone who tells me that most Junior coaches in Vic. are on performance based contracts, many get paid, and re-appointments are based on League position at end of season.
Poaching of coaches is common.
Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.

Will you drive down to see AU play Gold Coast in a few weeks

Wonder if i'll be able to get a ticket

Is Galaxy U 14s the same as Birkalla U14s I have just arrived from yorkshire UK and was watching a game tonight U13 state v U13 STIC at Adelaide City
There was a game beteen Adelaide City and Birkalla U14s on the next pitch and there were a lot of comments i overheard about Birkalla playing boys who had been playing U15s all year to play in this game.
Was it an important game to win, if there is such a thing at this age, if not why did Birkalla do this?
I have coached juniors in the UK at Huddersfield town and the philosophy there is football education not winning. I have an 8 and 10 year old and hope this is not their future football development

1. Would be good to see some fortitude by the Clubs and also the FFSA in getting rid of some coaches who are just not suited to coaching at the junior level. The FFSA get regular complaints about the same few coaches, but have they ever got rid of any. Dont think so. They are just slapped on the wrist, serve a suspension and then they are back again doing the same thing. These coaches should be deregistered by FFSA and unable to coach anywhere
2. Where are the parents in all this? If any junior coach is as bad as being said, why would they want their kids exposed to this type of coaching and bad behaviour?

no parents from the opposition watched the game from the same side as the coach. They must be familiar with his antic and choose to stay at a distance.
I might add that on the fixture at our ground earlier in the year, this coach was ejected from the coaching area for constantly abusing and swearing at the ref. At the end of the game the coach verbally attacked and intimidated the ref (who was 16yo) to the point where we had to intervene and separate the coach from the official. I believe that one went to the DC.
Re: tool of the week
Hello
I'm a parent of a child in this team (Under 14s).
I understand that the person in question will not be coaching this team next year, but if he did, I personally would have no concerns. My child has enjoyed playing under this coach, as have most of his team mates. There is no doubt that he has gone "over the top" sometimes, but his support of his players has been unwavering (so I disagree with whoever indicated he was still yelling in the rooms 15 minutes after last week's game!). I back the club in to have considered all of this when appointing the 2011 coaches.
He and the Under 15s coach are two separate people. The Under 15s coach has helped out in matches that Under 15s players have been qualified, including last night. The Under 15s coach took the reigns last night, and despite his antics, appears to be a very astute teacher of the game.
The Under 15s players dropping back has concerned the parents of a number of players, especially parents like me whose son is a "fringe" player. However, after Round 1 (a 10 goal thumping by Campbelltown) 2 players left, and shortly after that, another player broke his arm and missed most of the season, leaving numbers thin. 3 players down, and we have been assisted by 3 Under 15 players (age qualified) from time to time. My son has enjoyed the year, had fun, and learnt more about the game. He enjoyed a couple of excellent wins without Under 15 assistance (and some with), and the club has handled this reasonably well, although like all things, perhaps could have done it better with hindsight.
At the game last night I can assure you that most parents were on the same side as the coaching staff. That statement was plain wrong!

Re: tool of the week
I would have thought it was irrelevant what side the parents are sitting on if the game was at Camden because the coaching box is on the opposite side to the clubrooms, which is where most supporters stand...maybe stick to issues that are relevant...Malcolm McDonald. wrote:i was referring to the game played a camden last sundaydragonboy wrote:Hello

I don't know about any of the other details as I haven't been at any of these games...I do know however that this team has been short on numbers since the start of the year and I know that they have also used players from the Under 13's on occassion (as my nephew was thrilled about an opportunity to play up with the older team).
Edit: I also know that the Under 15's team has very large numbers so an opportunity perhaps for some of those children to get game time that they may not get at Under 15's

Sorry, my bad! I was thinking about last night.
You are right. We naturally choose the side closest to the bar! That's the best thing about 12 noon kick-offs, it's socially acceptable to drink!

Re: tool of the week
The relevance is Holly is that we had to move after his swearing rant as we have a 10yo. I made the comment as no birkalla parent were within cooee of this guy probably for the same reason we had to move.
Re: tool of the week
Malcolm..As I said, I have not been at any of these games so will not comment on anything that has or has not happened at any of these games but it is not usual for parents to be on the coaches side of the pitch at Camden so the relevance of parents being there has nothing to do with the coaches behaviour...my sons team has a wonderful coach whom I have never heard swear in many years of coaching and parents from his team do not stand on that side of the pitch...Malcolm McDonald. wrote:The relevance is Holly is that we had to move after his swearing rant as we have a 10yo. Therefore it is completely wrong to infer that parents were not standing on that side of the pitch due to any behaviour from the coach!

you drink alcohol at junior games???...... perhaps this is an indication of the culture that exists at some clubs. E&D have an association wide zero tolerance to alcohol at junior games.dragonboy wrote:Sorry, my bad! I was thinking about last night.

The coach did not drop any players, all players are 14 or under & the team has 4 regular 13 year olds & 1 12 year old from time to time. Yes thats correct 12 year old.
I dont know what you call it in the North but down here we call it development.
The coach was not holding the spare ball & dropped kicked it, the ball was on the ground & he kicked it off the ground. Why would he be holding the spare ball?
The ball did not go over the parent supporter heads the ball went behind your teams coaches box & infront of the parents where they were conregated inbetween the 2 coaches boxes as always to heckle the other coach. This has been a Para Hills traite well known through out the U/14 A division. Other clubs will confirm this.
Down in the South we have small boxes that the coaching staff & subs can sit in.
The swearing was made out of fustration toward his players to himself & had nothing to do with your parants so they should have not got involved. (I dont know what Shiraz means, was the Birkalla coach drinking wine as well?) Shame on him.
At the end of the game the Birkalla coach went into the dressing room & did not see the Para Hills Coach as I think he did not realy care for him so we dont understand how he could have refused shaking his or your hand.
(It might have something to do with the Birkalla coach being threatened with violence from a few of the Para Hills male parants from the last game). The ones that stand next to your coach all the time.
How can you go past the home teams change room when it is at the end of a hall way?
The 1 thing that was noticed was the ParaHills coach in the refs change room after the game. What for? Chummy chummy with the ref as was in the first round.
If its the first or the last game of the year whats that got to do with what the Birkalla team coach says to his players? Even if he is loud? What has this got to do with you? The team still had 4 games to play.
If you think the Birkalla Football Club should "piss" this guy off you should put your money where your mouth is & write a letter to the club or the FFSA to demand he be sacked. But please write the facts & not what suits you. Top this off with your offer to be a coach at Birkalla & ask that you want the same problems our coach had this year if you are not already one now at Para Hills.
Birkalla trys to enforce that their parants watch the game from the opposite side to the coaches box as there is plenty of room & I must say us parants from the U/14 & most from the other teams always do so we dont hear what is happening with any of the coaches because its non of our business. Maybe you should recommend that Para Hills follows suit as twice when you have played Birkalla home & away your parants got to invloved with our coach. You have also done this with other clubs. Now do you think its just a co incident?
You failed to tell all who cares how your team Para Hills changed the kick off time set by the FFSA to your home match to purposly disadvantage Birkalla! Para Hills had 16 players V Birkalla 11 players (4 under 13) Birakalla lost that game 5-4 this was won by the 16 year old ref awarding Para Hills a penalty & a free kick which they scored outside the box in the last 10 minutes! Both free kicks were false. 11 players (4 under 13) Vs Para Hills 16 players. Now who thinks its all about winning? Pressure cooker? I dont think so.
Your facts on verbaly attacking the referee at your home game are again false. Our coach after abusing the ref once (by the way he was the worst I have seen at this level, too young & cost us the game with 11 players) went to shake the refs hand & your coaches hand & it was one of your 2,3 or 4 coaches that did not want to shake his hand. Its hard to know how many coaches ParaHills has due to the parants coaches being so close all the time. This is when the Birkalla coach was threatened with violence from one of the parants. I can not repeat the words used by YOUR parant & it dont realy matter. This particular parant stands always behind your coach, what for? A body gaurd perhaps? Who ever you are dont believe that this & that has happened. STATE FACTS!
Pressure cooker? I wonder if your coach has even ever played the game.
Who ever you are hidding behind a computer screen you have no idea but you should concentrate your efforts on your club or coaching & not worry about what goes at other clubs.
Birkalla is a great club & its youth development is second to none. But most people who do know the club knows this already.

Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.

Ok these are the facts again;leeds city wrote:Is Galaxy U 14s the same as Birkalla U14s I have just arrived from yorkshire UK and was watching a game tonight U13 state v U13 STIC at Adelaide City
Birkalla do this because they do not have enough players. Would you rather they play with 9 players as the Adelaide City coach would like them to do? All the players are under 14 & again last night Birkalla had 4 under 13 players in this team. This was a good game as it was competative & thats what we all want to see.
Again what you over heard was what they wanted you to hear.
Did they tell you that they had 4 players under 14 in the team last night that normaly play under 15? No they did not.
Whats funny about all this is that last year this Birkalla team who were under 13 got flogged nearly every week.
These other clubs got used to that happening & now that Birkalla U/14 are competative they dont like it. Whats the point of playing a game if you are going to win easily? Is that good development?
Its easy when you have the luxury of 50 players turning out for trials & you can take your pick of the best. I like to see one of these so called know all coaches take 13 kids (4 under age) & develope them to be competative in the under 14 As & not finish bottom like Birkalla has.
