Whats going on? Please explain

Post by lionman »

We at Lion have been trying to organise our catch up game against Mt. Barker for a week, they dont want to play this sat because they wont be at full strength, stiff shit we played on fri night and drew with bottom side coz we were missing players, the funny thing is the league is telling us to postpone it, what the fuck, you cant postone games during the season for this reason, how can the league make us do it now   :clown:

If you'd entered in the right division you might not have had this problem.

The difference here is that the game isn't scheduled, unlike during the season. Mt Barker are fighting to stay up aren't they?

I spoke with the SAASL the other day re: catch-up games for my club and I was told that they cannot be postponed further.

Call Denise and get her to help push it along. Everyone suffers with the after season catch-up games and no one is going to be at full strength unless they are very very lucky.

You should be playn your games but thats right your a's  oops b's are still in the cup, whats even stranger is the league has said your a's dont have to play when your b's are in the cup
We tryed to organise game with Pumas but they are unavailable this weekend, hopefully now league will come to there sensors and either enforce Mt Barker to play or they forfeit.

Thats what we have tried to do, "schedule" in the game, the point is there coach has said they dont want to play because they would have to play b and c players, and would get pumped, we asked to play at a later date or during the week and he said the side would be worse, the league is not forcing them to play and will not say they have forfeited, go figure

Go on then, I know I shouldn't but I will anyway ...

As far as I'm aware, the league have said that Lion should play their games in hand in the order they were initially scheduled, Pumas before Mt Barker.

The result of Lions v Mt Barker does not matter to Mt Barker; we were relegated when we lost to Uni in our last game (Uni cannot get relegated, there is already a Uni team in Div 4).

What Mt Barker does not want to do, is hand promotion or the title to Lion, either by forfeiting a match or turning up with 8 out of 11 B/C team players.

What Mt Barker has said to the league is that after Lion have played Pumas, if the result of Lion v Mt Barker match matters (to Lion, Hahndorf, Monarchs or Pumas) then we will turn up with the strongest 11 we have available, on a date and at a venue to be arranged.

We want to be as fair to all teams (4, if you count Pumas outside chance) as we can, both for promotion and for the title.

There is very little chance - certainly over the next two weeks - that our full A-team will be available to play (whatever the date / venue) ... But if it matters we are prepared to turn up and give it a go to try and be as fair as we can to those teams who have a stake in the result.

(Now, I'm off this forum to give me a head-start, before the Club's Senior President turns up at my house to give me a kicking)

This is exactly what I am talking about, your club and others dictating to the league who and when you will play catch up games, its a farce, we just want the season over, so there for want to play the catch up games as soon as possible, the fact your not at full strength shouldnt matter, not our fault, we were not at full strength fri night against bottom side and drew, the fact they dropped some players down from div 1 didnt help our cause but we wear it and concentrate on next catchup game. The fair thing to do is play the game and not run scared, its not like you havent been pumped by other teams during the year, we dont want to be in a position were the league awards us the title in october sometime cause thats when you feel like playing us or the league hands us a forfeit, as i have said, you guys are available this week to play, Pumas arent, the league should be making you play not the other way around, it is a fuken joke and the league is a bludy circus the way they have gone about this.

Few things to add.

1. Lionman, you are completely wrong when you say that you have been trying to organise a game for a week, and this really grinds my gears. I was called MONDAY EVENING at 5pm. Not last week.
2. You make it sound like Mt Barker are deliberately avoiding play you. We have played many games this year with understrengthed teams.. University of Adelaide to name just one, thats life. We even played that game at Mt barker rather than postponing it. Your game was the ONLY one that was postponed this year for us. It is not our fault that you had games to play after the season, so do not make us suffer for your aouctions. Was your team in the cup all this time? Why did you not play this backed up games during the cup rounds when we all had byes (assuming that you were nhot in the cup).
3. The league supports our stand, and we are sticking by it. you go play pumas during the week under lights, I dont care.. once you have done that come speak to Mt Barker then we will play you... probably.
4. Lionman - Did you completely ignore this "But if it matters we are prepared to turn up and give it a go to try and be as fair as we can to those teams who have a stake in the result.".

1. You were called last week but decided to answer your phone monday :) , regardless monday is still plenty of time to tell your boys they have a game.
2. You are not entirely to blame, the league is a farce and should be enforcing these games especially when promotion and relegation pend on them.
3. The pumas had already made plans for their cup week off, uni was always scheduled for first week after season finishes, but its not about the other clubs, you guys are who were trying to organise game with, pumas are unavailable this week and you guys are available, its not hard to work out!
4. What freaks me out is that the league wont call this a forfeit, you have already said if the league doesnt make us play this week we cant play u after this, how is that not a forfeit?
5. I think there is more to this than meets the eyes, the amateur league needs to be careful, and think about the decisions they make, they are setting a dangerous precedent, this wouldnt happen in div 1, i think they are scared of losing your club, and lots of money that goes along with that.
6. At the end of the day we just want the season finished, to do that we need to play 2 games, the amateur league wont let us play one of them, its a joke, Bill and Alex you are a joke, sort your shit out grow some balls, dont have double standards.

Dude, I do not recall anything on my phone from last week, or a voicemail. So just erase last week from existance. For people who think the season is over, a week may or may not be enough time. All I know is I have an sms from the league saying there is no game this weekend. EoS.

Yes what a joke this is the season has finished and we could be still playing these catch up games god knows when.....
The leauge need to sort this shit out!!!!! We just want to play if the leauge was organised we should of played catch up games on cup rounds when teams already knocked out or mid week. I don't want to be playing in Oct players have other commitments and yet the title still hasn't been decided.

On the other topic if we was in the correct division get over it we was placed in 3 division and justified being top most of the season. So we would of played in div 4 and had the leauge won by mid season belting teams 10 nil thats fun for the opposing teams.

We just want the season finished as do the other teams in div 3 so the winner can be decided!!!!!!!

So why aren't Lion playing Pumas this weekend? They are not playing. Why wasn't a date arranged with Pumas when the game was postponed in Round 10? Pretty stupid to play the game on the GF weekend. These games should of been scheduled by the league so there is no arguments. Leaving the scheduling upto the two clubs involved is a joke.
