This is the only reason I can think of them getting the points.
And if TV lost one game then the Iggies would have won the League on goal difference...and remember, they lost to Vipers only a few weeks ago and the Hawks weren't going all the way to their ground for a loss...
But like I said, next year we will remind them...
Re: Saturday Division 6 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumo
A friend of mine who is involed with Torrens Valley Soccer Club asked me to post this for him. I have no association with the club.
Clarification on Torrens Valley Soccer Club:
1. 3pm home games agreed upon by league at beginning of season as we have juniors playing mornings.
2. Unlike many other clubs we only have one pitch.
3. League made the fixture times clear on their website. Clubs surely write down their fixtures for their players. I know we do.
4. Yes we do have players that work some mornings and afternoons. However the league has no need to investigate us as we have always fielded a side regardless of how many players we are missing.
5. We have been reasonable to our opposition this season when it came to catch-up games and rescheduling. Played FC Adelaide and Flinders away at 11:30am for our home fixtures.
6. We are not in Division 6 by choice. Our club nearly folded at the beginning of the year so we had chosen to play Division 6 in case we had to pull out entirely.
7. Why should we continue our season into October because the Comets and Hawks could not field a squad because they pan out A’s and B’s into their C’s. This was admitted to me by the Hawks manager who said their A grade keeper plays C’s.
8. If you can’t always field a C’s team, then don’t have a C’s.
9. Personally I think it is unreasonable to expect us to play our home fixtures at a venue and time dictated by the away team.
10. We have always played within the rules unlike some other clubs that have played suspended players (Old Ignatians) during the year.
11. The majority of teams in Div 6 have been great (Southern Breakers, Vipers, Mt Barker, FC Adelaide, Flinders and Monarchs). The rest know who you are and just accept that you’re playing C’s and I can’t believe this is so important to clubs that already have successful Div 1 and 2 sides.

A very good response from TV wombat......I don't know the ins and outs of some of your points but points 1-6 and 9 make perfect sence to me.
I still don't agree with SAASL giving points away at the end of the season, this should have been done at the time the opposition couldn't make the game.
I would though like to hear from Iggies in regards to playing suspended players..... if true.

1. 3pm home games agreed upon by league at beginning of season as we have juniors playing mornings. The league should have contacted the other clubs in the division to notify them of this.
2. Unlike many other clubs we only have one pitch. You make do with what you have.
3. League made the fixture times clear on their website. Clubs surely write down their fixtures for their players. I know we do. Every other fixture in the league kicks off at 11:30am. Did any club not show up for a 3pm fixture at yours without not notifying you?
4. Yes we do have players that work some mornings and afternoons. However the league has no need to investigate us as we have always fielded a side regardless of how many players we are missing. Why would the league need to investigate TV? What do they have to hide?
5. We have been reasonable to our opposition this season when it came to catch-up games and rescheduling. Played FC Adelaide and Flinders away at 11:30am for our home fixtures.Well in.
6. We are not in Division 6 by choice. Our club nearly folded at the beginning of the year so we had chosen to play Division 6 in case we had to pull out entirely.Contradicts what Bill Bailey told me at the start of the season after he originally had you in Division 4.
7. Why should we continue our season into October because the Comets and Hawks could not field a squad because they pan out A’s and B’s into their C’s. This was admitted to me by the Hawks manager who said their A grade keeper plays C’s.How other teams run their clubs are their own concern. Hawks had a different keeper in all three matches that our A/B/E played against them. I'm sure you are aware of the SAASL rules for postponed/catchup fixtures.
8. If you can’t always field a C’s team, then don’t have a C’s.All teams could field a C team at the time when the C team league kicks off. Players play at certain levels for various reasons.
9. Personally I think it is unreasonable to expect us to play our home fixtures at a venue and time dictated by the away team. The league schedules matches, it's up to the two clubs to ensure that they go ahead. If you agree to reschedule, you should play the rescheduled match. If they can't play the scheduled match, stand on your two feet and make the opposition forfeit. You are getting a free pass which is ridiculous.

The 'importance' of the competition to you was evident in your conduct at Glenunga. Just because the other teams aren't competing for the title doesn't mean the season hasn't been 'important' for them. I like how the the minority of teams that aren't great are the three teams sitting (currently) first, second, and fourth.
The SAASL created this mess by moving TV to Division 6 in the first place after initially placing them in Division 4. The SAASL exacerbated it by making the ruling re the Comets and MA Hawks catchup matches. Torrens Valley should have held their ground and made each of them forfeit. If they agreed to the matches being postponed, those matches should be played.

This is very true...But I don't blame TV for saying Fuçk it, why should we keep playing doing others favours because the opposition couldn't get their sh1t together.Kitchimo wrote: The SAASL exacerbated it by making the ruling re the Comets and MA Hawks catchup matches. We went to TV with an undermanned side (because of the 3pm start) and could of easily postponed but we didn't.
It was anounced at the start of the season and as much as I thought it was bogus, no one can say they didn't have the info early enough.

I can tell you that the keeper that plays for the A's does not play keeper for the C's. He plays on the pitch for the C's and only plays keeper for the A's cause our first choice keeper Felippe was injured for the majority of the season. Thanks James for helping out.
Part 2. Why would we pan out players from the A's and B's into the C's? The A's and B's needed all the resources they could get this year and it still wasn't enough to get us over the line (A's 3rd).
And before you go on about why didn't our B's keeper play A's, well I can tell you he did play a few matches but when James was available we used him as he is a bit more experienced than young Nick at this stage.
Re: Saturday Division 6 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumo
I can finally get on here to defend my club, Torrens Valley.
Just to further clarify. We were awarded points to games vs Hawks and Comets as both of these sides failed to field a squad at the specified time and venue. These games were not postponed due to pitch conditions. This by league rules constitutes a forfeit. I don't think I would be alone in saying that most clubs in our position would have concerns if they had to play clubs with div 1 and 2 sides after their seasons are completed, at the risk of stacking. I know there is a rule about this but who's going to sit down before the game and calculate if a each player has played 80% of A grade games.
As for the suspended player reference. Kitchimo can laugh all he wants but we witnessed his efforts after the game to re-write his team sheet with the said players name not on it, in the very game he was refereeing. Not to mention their match reports said one of their players received two yellows the week before. After this game their match report was removed from their website. The league investigated and as the previous weeks match report was filled out incorrectly the evidence of their website was not sufficient to take action on Iggies. Seems like a lot of effort to try and hide your unsporstmanlike behaviour.
In answer to Kitchimo's question about his discussion with Bill Bailey, yes we were to put down to play in Div 4 but we decided to change to Div 6 as we had several players under 17 join our team and Div 6 is a much better place for them to start up in seniors. We played Div 4 last year and got thumped every week, this also helped make the decision to go down even easier for us.

Re: Saturday Division 6 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumo
At no stage did Torrens Valley advise the league that we would play catch-up matches against the Hawks and Comets. We knew that we already had catch-up matches to play and were worried that our season would be further prolonged. Our season is already going two weeks over without the Hawks and Comets games. We always stood our ground on this matter, however the league decided to make the call to advise Hawks and Comets to arrange a catch-up game with us. As soon as we had heard this happened we advise the league that we already had games that were legitimately postponed (pitch conditions and weather) that we had to arrange. Then the league decided to put an end to this debacle and call the games forfeits.Franco UnAmerican wrote:Kitchimo wrote: The SAASL exacerbated it by making the ruling re the Comets and MA Hawks catchup matches. I believe that if a club can't field a team at the specified time and venue, then it's a forfeit. If excuses that players are working becomes adequate then a precedent is set. Then what's stopping any team from using this excuse so that they can later dictate the terms of a catch-up game.
Re: Saturday Division 6 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumo
I see the internet has reached the Adelaide Hills (its good to have club reps on here). I assume you are the TV coach.
If you did not advise the SAASL that the matches were postponed, you did the right thing, as I stated - held your ground and made the opponents forfeit. You must understand that no-one in this thread is having a go at Torrens Valley. The SAASL made this mess and has in turn messily cleaned it up, and it is having significant consequences for the league championship.
The SAASL was notified by the referee of the complaint from Torrens Valley in the game against OISC via a referee report, which was provided to Torrens Valley for comment when submitted to the league. OISC provided the referee with a player card for the player that Torrens Valley alleged was suspended for a red card offence. He was recorded correctly on the teamsheet. The SAASL investigated the incident and found no merit in the complaint from Torrens Valley as there was no record of the player having been sent off or having accumulated enough yellow cards in prior fixtures.
If my coach was fielding a suspended player, I would know about it and prevent it, as I explained to you and Steve at the time. I'm not going to be stupid enough to bring my club into disrepute over a Division 6 fixture. Further, as Secretary, I actually get informed of all player suspensions by the SAASL and retain a copy of all teamsheets. We have had 5 players suspended this year, 4 of them from our A Grade, and 1 of them from our B Grade. None of our E Grade players have been sent off on a teamsheet or accumulated four yellow cards.
Welcome to Footballnews. Make sure you earn the league title by beating Monarchs and Southern Breakers.
MA Hawks and Comets, every other team had to play at 3:00pm away at some stage during the season.

This doesn't mean it didn't happen. Most club referees I know don't write bookings on the sheets they hand to the SAASL.Kitchimo wrote:there was no record of the player having been sent off or having accumulated enough yellow cards in prior fixtures.

Re: Saturday Division 6 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumo
Wombat?!?!? Are you serious?!?!?
Firstly, I am the C Team Manager and player for the MAHawks...
Your comment "Why should we continue our season into October because the Comets and Hawks could not field a squad because they pan out A’s and B’s into their C’s. This was admitted to me by the Hawks manager who said their A grade keeper plays C’s."... are you serious?!? Please go back and read my email that I had sent through...we only have one player that plays on the field for the C's but is the keeper for the A's. This is because he wants to play on the field but the club wants him to be a keeper...fair compromise..
So Wombat...Please read your emails as you wouldnt want me to post what Torrens Valley reply was regarding the 3pm start time...
We don't pan our A's and B's into our C's.
We have separate squads for each group and we normally train separately.
Most of our C's play C's because of the 11.30am start, meaning they can go to work in the afternoons.
If anyone stayed back to watch the A's and B's you would notice that nearly 80% of players leave after the game due to work commitments...
The question is why did TV get the approval for a 3pm start time when every other C team starts 11.30am???
As for not replying to my emails regarding the catch up game...was TV too gutless to inform me of their plan to convince the league to give TV the points?
And the reason we all want the catch up games to happen is because we dont want a "One Team Club" to take the title, as much as I hate seeing Iggies win, we would prefer Iggies to win the league instead of TV....(and I think most other clubs would agree),
And, as for your weak "Stacking" excuse....I would personally bring you the stats of every player that has played for the C's. I would never stack our team as we are a C team and only C players would play...unlike Torrens Valley who can have any player they chose....
Finally Wombat...you were more than happy to state your case on here....next time can you please respond to my emails when it came to requesting a catch up game...your gutless effort in not responding is pathetic...and for you to come on here and try and make us look like the enemy...sheesh...

Re: Saturday Division 6 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumo
By all means I have no qualms with showing what I wrote in my email to the MA Hawks.
Here it is:
“Unfortunately 3pm is the time slot for next weeks game. We have players working morning and early arvo so we have to play at 3pm. If you have any issues, you may have to discuss them with the league”.
“Some of our guys work shifts so their times vary. Sometimes they can make it, sometimes they can't”.
I could’ve provided more detail to the MA Hawks manager in this email. I perhaps should’ve also mentioned that juniors were playing on our pitch in the morning.
At the beginning of the season I printed out a list of all the fixtures and provided them to my squad. My players then endeavored to negotiate their work hours with their employers so that wherever possible they could play. Obviously this is not always possible though.
Why would any club change the time of their home fixture if it were going to be detrimental to them and strongly benefit the opposition team?
Just too also add also when we did agree to move a Vipers home game back (1:30) at their request we suffered the consequences and lost. We were missing 8 players and only had 11 fit players. By no means should this detract from the Vipers deserving win. They fought gallantly to hold out our barrage of goal attempts and came away victorious. Well done to them. We look forward to playing the Vipers again.

First I heard of it but kitch has stated, the ref was shown the players card, his name was on the timesheet, league investigated and found no wrong doing.Franco UnAmerican wrote: I would though like to hear from Iggies in regards to playing suspended players..... if true.
Sounds like sour grapes because they lost.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:
Colossus: One House
Costa: One Lunch
Oh and add in
Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

Yes, Iggies got off on a technicality. The match sheet from the previous week was not completed correctly and the players card was given back to Iggies when it should have been withheld.Fudpucker wrote:First I heard of it but kitch has stated, the ref was shown the players card, his name was on the timesheet, league investigated and found no wrong doing.
Two yellows the previous week is an automatic 1 week suspension. Doesn't matter what way you put it, your match reports confirmed he was sent off the week before.
You may have escaped punishment from the league but that doesn't absolve you. If you play within the spirit of the game and are sportsmanlike no team can question your behaviour.

From what I understand (text message just sent to me), Vipers defeated OISC tonight in the catch-up match so TV only needs to gain one point from their remaining two fixtures to win the league.

I have just been advised my coach that Vipers defeated Old Ignatians 2-1.
Congratulations to Vipers. You've done us a massive favour! Great finish to the season Vipers.
