Stirling v St Peters this Saturday at Bradwood, probably A's only. Saints have their presentation night on Friday so could be interesting.....

Seeing as though B's matches don't count for relegation or promotion, I wouldn't think too many would be replayed unless a title is on the line.

Adelaide Uni v Adelaide Wanderers A's & B's to be played on Saturday Sept 18 at usual times.
Apparently Uni have promised their ground to another catch up fixture this weekend...

Same excuse was given for Adelaide Uni (3) catchup matches.

Why use the word excuse....... :?

"Reason" would be more appropriate unless you think there is something sinister going on. :?

Unless they gave it to Adelaide United, I would've thought a Premier League catch up match would hold priority over a lower division.

They're delaying their B's potentially winning the league and their A's are obviously in relegation zone...

Can someone from Uni let us in on who's playing priority over the Premier league?

Why wouldn't you want to play? I thought we all played this great game because we love it! Does it matter that a club can't get promoted or relegated? Is that the sole reason for playing?
I wish we had another game this week. I would be out there in a heartbeat...

Normal times, normal places for A's and B's AFAIK.

We do indeed have 5 pitches: park 10 (by the football oval and tennis courts), 11 (I think it's called that - closest to the women's and children's hospital, collegiate/uni whites), South pitch (closest to the city, c's, div 4), grads (div 3), metro (div 1).

If you've managed a club, you'll know there is a big difference between wanting to play and actually having everyone or grounds available to play.

There are loads of people that I'm sure would love to play all year round - I would if I could, but some people might play other sports when SAASL season has finished or have other commitments.

It doesn't matter that a game does or doesn't go ahead if there's nothing to play for ie survival or a title - but at the end of the day if there's nothing to gain or a team needs to fight for something - this will usually be the deciding factor.

My comment was not too many will be played, meaning some will.

Are Uni waiting to see if they need to play?

No biggy, just wondering why you wouldn't give preference to your Premier side? :o

If you could say what pitch you hear another catch-up match is using, rather than throwing out suggestions like you are?

I'll add to that, some of the pitches could be in better condition than the metro pitch - we'd obviously prefer to not play in a quagmire, so we might use another one. The game(s) will be going ahead, on the best pitch we can provide (which is probably still the metro, because despite the wankers from the football club training on it, we've been pretty careful).

Um. That's a good question. I thought we were playing this week. I'm going to have to re-arrange my plans for Saturday (again). I have no idea why we're waiting an extra week... :?

The collegiate league have booked out the Adelaide Uni ground in advance, assuming our season would be over. We're not happy about it and also agree that being the premier side we should be given preferential treatment. Unfortunately this is not the case and we have to wait until next Saturday.

Could some of the clubs accept reversing the fixture and playing it at the other teams home ground,if they are that keen to get their season finalised. I know some clubs have a big home ground advantage, sometimes it just about getting the games played and out of the way.

If this happens, and the club has clubrooms, you might be inclined to put a few complimentary jugs of beer in the opposition changerooms, after the game as well :)
You guys should be lucky that the AFL specifically did not schedule any of the finals matches during the afternoon, therefore avoiding a clash with your catchup games :)
