arnie wrote:sat div 5 Vipers1 v Cove3 A huge thanks to Vipers playing today when every one else was called off. kicking off early we were lucky not one drop of rain in our game on a pitch that I saw on friday was under water the surface was excelent must be some good drainage , anyway Vipers your Cs are A great bunch of lads including the 4 A's playing{ good to see Rosco ex Cove man out there} even though he and the others had to double up for the A's later, Im sorry guys but im 51 still playing still love the game but your president, ref whatevever he is is an absolute disgrace in all my years i have never seen anyone be that biased full credit to your boys showing true sportsmanship , and well done to fullback who walked off at end near the end in embarresment at his decisions Vipers players you are a credit to your club your ref is not . To my boys well done A great season ,undefeated who showed a lot of metal today , look forward to next year.
I see you have your rosey glasses on. Interesting that you had a penalty awarded to you, yet at the other end, when one of those so called A's rounded half your team, to be blatantly pushed off the ball in the box a penalty wasn't given.

For someone who is 51, its interesting how you don't know the rules. Holding a player is a free. Pushing a player is a free, pherhaps in pub rules it is not. If you are 51 and so knowledgeable, how about teaching some of your players to respect officials and other teams, and stop the whining. Hopefully when you guys stood on the hill drinking beers, in brown bottles, which I am sure weren't on the Vipers menu, that you could see the teams playing where not whinging!

But with those rosey glasses on, I am sure this is not what you saw.

hahahahahahaha where has all these vipers snipers come from!

top group of boys and you were mostly agreeing that the refereeing was a horror show! i dont think our attitudes had a lot to do with anything, how can we have something like 8 yellows and a red (10mins after fulltime! ha!) compared to barely a whistle blow in coves favor. its just not possible for a non heated game between the players themselves.
the penalty woodnt have been paid at 1-1 by the way thats clear to me. but vipers boys that decision about the pass back that our GK picked up was an absolute disgrace and i know for a fact some of your players were shaking their heads. if anything that fired us up and lead to a win taking us to 16 wins and 2 draws 0 losses for the year.

yeh magician ive always had doubts about the defenders so your comments dont come as a suprise :D one FOOL (quote of the one st.peters rockstar) in particular!!

Cove worthy league winners, great set of lads, when the going got tough character always showed and hence the results!

Pass back free kicks are a matter of interpretation by the Ref.

I know we had 2 awarded against us early in the season that in my opinion were bogus.

But at the end of the day that was how the ref saw it and what can you do......

I think every club ref is biased in the oposing teams eye but there are also a hell of a lot of whinging teams out there that complain
at the drop of a tissue..

Away sides rarely get the rub of the green.......FFS deal with it as it is the norm.

I heard, a few players and blokes on the side complaining how much whining your team was doing. As for the penalty, it was paid though wasn't it? Hardly seems biased to me. And from what I saw of the pass back, the defender, didn't take a swing at the ball, instead he just raised his leg, to make the ball bounce up for the keeper to catch. Interesting to hear your take on it. Was there 8 yellows and a red? are you sure, caused I missed them.

funny how the tables have now turned buddy boys! seems like a touchy subject! all we are saying is that the referee had an absolute 'mare and it didnt look good on a club with a great set of players/blokes. i think for you argueing (if you are) that the refereeing was acceptable, then your opinion is appreciated, but wrong.

Now I'm making no comment on the referee, for all I know the Cove boys could be right, but ....

anyone who has played the Cove Div 5 team knows what a whining bunch of sore winners they are.
Even now, having won the game and won the league they can't stop whining.

Game went on in shocking conditions played in very good spirit and very light hearted at times from both teams as you would expect. Thanks to Vipers for supplying us with some shelter and IMO too good a ball playing side to be relegated. Need to strengthen up defensively as both Villa goals came from poor mistakes but in those conditions and that 6 yard box pfffffffffffffffft.....anything could have happened. Well done to our boys preparing to defend our Champ of Champs crown in a couple of weeks and good luck to Vipers in their quest to rejoin div 1 in 2012.
Congrats to Bill Petropoulos, the Vipers goalkeeper, for slotting the penalty home in his last kick of the ball before he embarks on his O/S tenure. A fantastic leader on the field, not sure if anyone realised he couldn't kick the ball with his right leg from Rd. 4 onwards (popped his driver taking the penalty, lucky it was the last kick of the season), we were fairly crafty in covering that up with our short play...but it speaks volumes in his bravery to play out the season and train up his young apprentice Shane (even passing on those legendary gloves of his). Pleasure to play with such a fine human being.

Well said.

Been a pleasure having Bill at the club and was worth every effort of the ball breaking that I had to endure to get him to the Vipers.

Thanks for proving my point. Did you want to give the three points back?

Personally I last played against you last year when I think we drew 2-2 at your place.
Some of the refereeing decisions when you were 1-2 down and whining against each other left a lot to be desired.
Good team, you just so take yourselves too seriously (for a C grade team).

i think rocking up/wanting to play isnt taking it too seriously :D
a forfeit is a good result on ur goal difference and reputation!
take a leaf from vipers book who gave 100% on matchday and to get a pitch to play on.
be careful not to confuse seriousness and heart/spirit rockstar!

A disadvantage of living in the hills - plenty of rain.
I'm pretty sure I'm not who you think I am, calling me rockstar! :D

I think you'll find no-one questions your 100% effort or that you deserved to win the league.
It's just your arguing with each other, the unnecessary and deliberate late challenges (not just bad timing like you get with most teams), and the whinging to the ref if one of your lads is on the end of a physical challenge that shows you up as sore losers .... even when you're winning.

Chill out. You just won the league.

And to Hahndorf a good young team and everybody else look forward to next season.

Are catch up games being played? Navarino B's have one against Africa and I am sure others do for bad pitch conditions. Games probably make no difference but while no have a kick around.
