And it goes on and on.... and on
FRANCE GET OVER IT YOU ARE LOSERS
Wenger: Henry deserved award, not Cannavaro
Arsene Wenger has insisted it was a 'mistake' not to name Arsenal captain Thierry Henry as European Player of the Year - and that the World Cup was 'lowest level' of football.
Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro took the prestigious Ballon D'Or - awarded by France Football magazine - ahead of countryman and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, both of whom tasted success in Germany this summer.
France striker Henry, 29, meanwhile, was third - despite having helped Arsenal reach their first European Cup final and also reaching the World Cup final for a second time with Les Blues.
For Wenger, the decision was unjust.
'It is a mistake,' declared the Arsenal manager.
'It shows that the people who vote look only at the World Cup, which when you speak about elite football, in my opinion, is the lowest level in football that you can see at the moment.
'They make their decision on that.'
Wenger continued: 'If you see Italy playing against Togo or South Korea you cannot say that Cannavaro has a good game or even Thierry Henry has a good game, that he is the best player in the world - look at the players he plays against.
'To be consistent in a big championship like in England or in the Champions League for me would be much more appropriate than three weeks in the World Cup.'

You obviously never saw Cannavaro for Juve last season Xabi - he was superb for Juventus. Add that to being unofficail player of the tournament.xabi wrote:who had a better year of football? thierry henry.

If Carew didnt do such a job against him last CL matchday, then there would have been little opposition. Cannavaro was very very average vs Lyon.
People forget its for the whole of 2006, he won a title with Juve (court cases aside), captained his side to the biggest achievement in world sport.
Whilst Henry lost the CL final, his Arsenal side didnt win the prem and he went missing for large chunks of the game in the WC final.
Fair go to Cannavaro, worthy winner.

dnt even bother trying to explain to ronaldo, he is an ignorant dumb muthafuka!juventino_4_ever wrote:Juve were found guilty of activity in the 04/05 season...not 05/06. Last season, we were just to good for the other sides...
ronaldo07, your opinion makes me laugh, go france and go henry hey... wat about Rooney and England??

IMO Zambrotta should have won the award, the best full back in the world, had an outstanding season with Juve (as usual) and is starting to become a force in an already star-studded Barca team... oh and not to mention his World Cup! But when it comes down to it, nothing wrong at all with Canna's selection, top performance ALL YEAR for Juve and Italy as well as leading the Azzuri to the World Title... you really can't ask for more, sorry to say but making a major final twice, chocking in both and losing in both does not mean you are deserved winner!

What about Oddo??LFTWNG11 wrote:dnt even bother trying to explain to ronaldo, he is an ignorant dumb muthafuka!juventino_4_ever wrote:Juve were found guilty of activity in the 04/05 season...not 05/06. Last season, we were just to good for the other sides...

mmm Zaccardo is quality and younger, but most would agree Oddo is better, if not for experience, then definately Oddo is better at going forward although they are on the same level going back... I dnt know what other Italian supporters think, but Oddo should have been starting in the world cup ahead of Zaccardo in those early matches... its just Lippi doesn't like Oddo for some reason and that in turn definately worked against him...

Quite true. If you watch Zaccardo for Palermo play now, even before the World Cup he is a team leader. he is good going forward and defending. Just a pity people will now associate zaccardo with a stupid own goal. He is wayyyy better than that. The Kop wrote:And free-kicks.
But i think Zaccardo will be better than Oddo once he improves his forward runs, and hes got about 5years on Oddo.

Henry snubbed for top FIFA award
Thierry Henry has not even made it into the final three short-list for the FIFA World Player of the Year award - a decision that is sure to infuriate his Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Fabio Cannavaro, Ronaldinho and Zinedine Zidane were revealed as the three remaining candidates today.
Henry was the only player who made it to the finals of both the Champions League and the World Cup last season, and Wenger said earlier this week the striker deserved to have been given the Ballon D'Or, the European Footballer of the Year award won by Italy and Real Madrid defender Cannavaro.
FIFA's award is voted for by the coach and captain of all 207 national teams, who each pick their top three players of the year.
Barcelona's Brazilian Ronaldinho has won it for the last two years and despite having a poor World Cup he is the front-runner again, though Zidane, winner in 2003, 2000 and 1998, may have a chance as a sympathy vote after retiring from football following his red card in the World Cup final.
Wenger yesterday said it had been 'a mistake' to give the European award to World Cup-winning skipper Cannavaro purely on the basis of that tournament.
'It shows that the people who vote look only at the World Cup, which when you speak about elite football, in my opinion, is the lowest level in football that you can see at the moment,' said Wenger.
The identity of the winner of the FIFA award will be revealed on Monday, December 18 at a gala in Zurich.
USA's Kristine Lilly, Germany's Renate Lingor and Brazil international Marta are the remaining contenders in the frame for this year's FIFA Women's World Player award.
this is a joke....henry, buffon and cannavaro should be top 3....Ronaldinho had a shit year and Zidane isnt as deservant as these 3 great players
