How would you be ?
With so many catch up games to be played, how would you be if one day the SAASL brought in particular rule, where the last round has been played, but there are just so many catchup games and not enough time or pitches available to play them all, whoever was on top of the table at the end of the season was declared the winner
got to be better then tossing a coin to decide a World Cup winner after extra time and penalties and the scores are still level ( i cant believe it was even suggested )

Level after penalties??? Penalties usually get a result one way or the other. The General wrote:got to be better then tossing a coin to decide a World Cup winner after extra time and penalties and the scores are still level ( i cant believe it was even suggested )
Nothing ever lasts for ever

IMO a rule should exist that all postponed matches should be played before the final round of the season unless there were extenuating circumstances or it was simply not possible.
However, there are obviously issues at the amatuer level about available grounds with lighting.

Agree, but what if you get to the end of the season and you're not sure if the games have to be played or not.crue head wrote:Strongly agree.Kitchimo wrote:IMO a rule should exist that all postponed matches should be played before the final round of the season unless there were extenuating circumstances or it was simply not possible.

Catch up games only have to be played if the result will affect championships, promotion, relegation, or prize-money. This usually is not known until the last week.
Take the Villa-Stirling match for instance. It was postponed. Villa have won the game league already, but stirling are still scrapping to stay up. Results on the weekend may or may not mean this game has to be played (to decide stirling's fate only). I reckon the villa players would probably rather not play a midweek game this week, as there is a chance that this weekend's games will decide relegation either way, and their game was for nought.
How about blanking out a "catch up week" the first week after the season ends, where games have to be fitted in. Teams play the first catch up game midweek, and see if fates are decided. then if they have more games (and they are still needed to separate teams) they can play them after that, etc.
Re: How would you be ?
I disagree, I believe everything should be sorted before the final round. It gives an unfair advantage to clubs who have something to play for 'after' the season (ie knowing the exact result they need to stay up, go up, or win the title).

In fact, if a game is postponed, it should be played midweek (at Grange if lights are not suitable), before the next round regardless. It should be a rule and expected from all Clubs.

+ 2 because then you also have the teams that dont give a fkcuk anymore coz they have nothing to play for and this can affect goal differencePower04 wrote:+1Kitchimo wrote:I disagree, I believe everything should be sorted before the final round. Re: How would you be ?
I thought about whether the season could be started earlier to allow extra time for catchup games - then there is the dilemma where grounds are either being used or prepared for summer sports, cant start too early, season cant go for too long.
I believe all games should be finalised/played regardless, affects so many awards. Apart from the SAASL top goalscorer + best Player, there are also the individual club awards as well.
Even if they try and organise double headers at whatever grounds are suitable and available, this might mean you have to travel a bit further,or even have to play at your opposition's ground instead of yours ( you may not have lights )
whatever it takes to get the game played, by the seasons end.

+3, if not midweek then at least within 2 weeks from the original date. Given the amount of money the league has even if they can't get grange maybe they can rent another ground.Power04 wrote:+1Kitchimo wrote:I disagree, I believe everything should be sorted before the final round. Re: How would you be ?
Why not just reserve the week before Round 18 as a "catch up" round? Some could appreciate the rest, whilst others, and there always seems to be a few, can play their catch up game. Just a thought.

They have the lease on Carnegie Reserve, which they sub-lease to Western Strikers. There's a ground they could use as well. Or they could talk to clubs like White city or Blue Eagles, to lease there grounds for the night.Uni_Black_10 wrote: +3, if not midweek then at least within 2 weeks from the original date.
