O35 Cup Semi Finals Draw Tonight

Post by wato87 »

Apparently the semi's are being drawn tonight - Anybody know what the outcome was for the Woodpeckers?
I don't think I will be able to make it, can someone please inform us all of the draw?
Thanks in advance.

Hopefully IF actually played the game - poor form and I am sure a bit hollow for the Woodpecker boys if they got through on two forfeits.

The FA Cup gets drawn without all the qualifiers being known.

Gully v Downs/Peckers should be played at a neutral venue.
I thought the Semi's were to be played next weekend as there was a vote at the first Cup meeting on what dates to play the semi's, matches to be played on the 12th of September not the 5th as not to clash with Fathers Day.

Rodent, just because your gardens Under 10,s got there first win on Sunday dont get ahead of yourself!

Neutral Venue!!! I see your point BUT all teams are Northern Teams, why go to Grange, our club has the facilities, I think its a great idea.

Of course you think it is a great idea LRO - it's at your ground!

Discussion at initial meeting was for the semis to be played on the 5th at Grange.

No probs Play at Grange, Enjoy the travel, enjoy putting your own nets up and down, make sure the pitches are marked, no canteen will be open. Its Amateur soccer and Over 35's, surley home ground advantage wont really come into it.

If its a forfeit then surely there is a case for Downs and Woodpeckers to play off for the semi spot as Woodpeckers would have only actually played two games!

Gully won the cup round so I think home ground advantage - if you can really call it that - is a fair result, who wants to go to grange?, we would be happy to play at any of the other grounds east/west/downs etc. The draw was out of a barrell so we got no other advantage ie playing the worst team etc (although that maybe how it turned out)

Anyway, look forward to having a beer with everyone in the new clubrooms win or lose cause really its only over 35's, sheep station stakes are long gone

Following my quote this afternoon, the pin has been pulled tonight. I received a call at training that a few players could not make it tomorrow night and will forfieted the game.

That's p1ss weak by the Farm and I'm sure the Woodpecker boys feel that getting to the semis only playing two games when everyone else has played four is a bit hollow.

If that is the way the Farm roll over then I guess the title should just be given to Gardens now - how would Florina feel about that?

I tell you now the Gardens will not be handed any trophy this Sunday.

Before you point the finger how about you understand the circumstances. A lot of the over 35 lads run there own business, live in the country and it is too far to go after work, work night shift or have family commitments so they can't make any week night let alone tomorrow night. Hence why they play O/35's where they do not have to train and can play on weekends. It was disappointing to get the phone call last night but I do know Lee tried to get 11 and we went through every player to scratch 11 but some players just could not get down to Grange for the game. Why the league chose a week night to play the game, only they know, so go and complain to them.
