This is actually not as funny as it sounds...ugly parents can do untold damage not just to their child but to the team as a whole! It is often in the best interest of the team to not have that sort of behaviour around as it can destabilse everyone. Parents should carefully consider whether or not their little Johnny is good enough to outway the problem of the parent...usually not with any decent disciplined coach...

The team always comes before the individual
We have some ugly parents at our club & they haven't caused any problems in their teams. I think its a bit harsh to blame someone , just because they weren't blessed with good looks
I might be "aesthetically challenged", but my wife is pretty  ......does that mean we even out.
We dont cause any problems either :) ...unless we are losing, or a Ref. makes what I consider a bad decision,or my kids play 30 secs. less than other kids, or the Coach doesn't smile and wave to me, or my Kids dont get picked for zone, or if we dont win the League.
Otherwise I'm pretty chilled.
Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.

He said, she said. Two wrongs dont make a right.

I obviously wasnt there so this is a general comment, but it never ceases to amaze me that someone can make a sarcastic or funny (non-abusive) comment, then the other person has no comeback, so abuses and swears and says something like "well he started it". Its called intelligence differential and let's face it, there are some clubs out there who have parents that certainly are low on the measuring stick and dont know the difference between light hearted banter and outright abuse.

Lighten up - its all about the kids enjoying themselves and developing their skills isnt it?

lets look at the childs perspective on the behaviour of parents.

I think they think its embarrasing, especially when they shout obscene things or shout out random comments about the laws of the game like "THATS OFFSIDE!!!" ......mum there were three defenders infront of him
some parents sound so stupid and rude, I would never want to meet them because of how rude they are and it makes them look like bad people. also they make the whole team look bad too, hell even the whole club.

then there are the good parents who understand that thekids are there to enjoy themselves and learn about teamwork and good sportmanship. i salute those parents.

and to the parents who are agressive and rude, i feel sorry for your kids, because sadly, your their role models..... :?

Well said Kiddyball. I couldn't help but notice a particularly vocal Mum recently. I felt embarrassment for her, the Club she was representing/supporting and most importantly, her Son.
Kids don't need the added pressure from parents. Don't these parents realize during these teen years, image is everything. Witnessing your parents shout abuse at the umpire, opposition, or whoever because it's not going Johnny's way, would be humiliating enough yet alone in front of peers.
Totally agree it should be the parents on trial.

I saw a parent shout at a Under 11 injured player to get up and "get on with it" tonight and yet want to write a report to E&D when one of her side's players went down - just smacked of being a bad loser in a game they were winning 3-0 at home with 15mins to go and lost! Get a grip parents the kids learn their behavoirs for football and their part in society from you!
Never argue with an idiot - they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
