Decision looming on choice of 4 goal-line technologies?

Post by Con »

Laws Board I.F.A.B. meet on 19th October to hear submissions from:

(a) Cairos- Adidas,
(b) an Italian techno consortium,
(c) "Hawkeye", and
(d) Swiss watch company Longines.

Cairos say an accurate result can be transmitted to a ref's watch in 0.2 secs and is better than cameras or 5th or 6th line refs who wouldn't have a view if, for example, a goalie was covering the ball.

It will be an interesting decision. Or will I.F.A.B., the sole custodian of the Laws of the game procrastinate again?

(I.F.A.B. is made up of 8 members: Wales, Scotland, England & N.Ireland, plus 4 FIFA members representing the other 204 nations. 6 out of 8 votes are needed to pass a law).

How about FIFA vote for new laws committee and abandon the antiquated IFAB.

Why not just get the linesmen some decent glasses or give the refs a Labrador each?
The older I get the better I was.

Why am I not surprised the proposal by "Longines", the Swiss watch company is gathering support?

It's only a co-incidence that Sepp Blatter is a Swiss citizen.....
