Great result for Plympton. I would almost chalk that up as a win!

Athelstone 0 - Grove 1

Div 9C2

Stones started with 7 players and no goalkeeper for the first minute, played 30 mins with 9 players, finally getting 11 on the pitch about 5 minutes before half time... massive effort from the lads.

You cannot start/play without a goalkeeper.

Well we let our chance slip by only picking up a point against Vale and PHW thats four points closer we could've been

Game was abandoned because of the pitch. Frustrating that no-one let us know until the entire team arrived. Most of my guys don't drive so they travel about 2 hours to the game only to be told its not on. Just bad luck I guess.

Ingle Farm V Para Hills West

A horrible cold wet day saw a small but noisy crowd out to Walkley Park.

A's 2-0
A goal to Evan in the first half and Matty finished the game off with about 10-15 to go in the second half. We had plenty of chances but Westies managed to keep us out. The keeper made a fantastic save in the first half. From all reports, we defended well and tried to attack on a fairly muddy pitch. A good result and welcome turn around from the last time we played Westies. Just have to keep winning to put pressure on 2nd and 3rd place.

B's 1-1
We had a stack of chances in the first half and missed some very easy goals. The guys play well most weeks but we just seem to lack scoring this season. Its not always the fault of the strikers as midfielders have missed some sitters also. To Westies credit in the second half they came out and attacked and got the equaliser with about 15 to play after a good period of possesion. Despite this season for the reserves not quite going to plan, there are a lot of younger guys who are developing really well and hopefully in the next year or two start pushing for the first team.

C's
Given the pitch and a leaking sprinker, we postponed the game. 3 of us spent an hour removing the water off the pitch.

Cheers to the Westies guys who came to watching and supported the Bar and BBQ. Always good to play those guys as its tough on the pitch but very friendly off it. Great to see V back at the club to.

Im sure it was frustrating as it was for our players too. you were told when the decision was made, all efforts were made prior to that to get the pitch up to scratch but it just woudnt drain quick enough even with people giving it the pitch fork treatment. Its unfortunate that people travelled 2 hours to find that out, next time i suggest they try public transport or car pooling as it doesnt even take that long to get to Swann Reach let alone Salisbury.

Considerable amounts of injuries has not helped our season this year not to mention other factors involved

Would have thought you have strengthen your b grade squad with couple of players returning to your club Outlaw this year.

Wasn't able to make it out today but just had the results sent through. Great win by the A's and they seem to have found some form and are starting to get some results. Another solid result from the b's with only the second clean sheet for the year but really consolidates 2nd place.
Can anyone from Fulham give an update on the A's Keeper?
Hope he has a speedy recovery
At the end of it all there will still be Football !!

Both Fernando and Marty Lara, David Eggers, Peter Flynn, Chris Brooker, Torsten Rutter, Mark Bromley, Graham Elrick, Paul Francken, Chris Air and Peter Rossi. My apologies if I have missed any but those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head Knight7.

As for players returning the two in question both got injuries as well as losing one to another club.

I was wondering how do clubs deal with the situation, where your A's season has already been decided ( promoted/relegated/finish top/finish mid table, but your B's have a chance of winning the league. As the SAASL website isnt upto date, hard to work out what clubs are in that position, can only go by what is in this forum.
I have been in this situation only once as a player, and never while I was coaching. As a player, all I can say it created disharmony among the team, ( and I was not one of the ones dropped )even though we won,it just didnt feel right.
Especially at the end of the game, when all the players are "congratulating" each other, and there are two or three players you want to hug that arent there,( because they were omitted, are only spectators )have been with you all season, and they are not there when/where it really counts, just doesnt feel right,in my opinion.
The league allows movement of players ( I am assuming )does that make it right ? I have seen where it has worked, and I have seen where it has backfired.
I dont know, that if I was in the position to do it,that I do it, if my own personal experience is anything to go by. What do you reckon ?

This happened last year at OISC.

Our Bs went into the final round equal on points at the top of the table and for our As the season was over (could finish from 3rd to 5th dependent on result). The three or so weeks preceeding this included when our As were safe from relegation and unlikely to be promoted. Selections occurred as normal.

This season our As have already won the title and the Bs are 3 points behind with 3 matches to play. I don't think it would be any different.

Great bloke and quite a handy player considering this is his first year back after having 5 years off. And I would like to throw in Craig Foster as another look a like :)
