Nothing beats playing in finals but with the cup, I wouldn't worry about it. If the leagues were expanded to 12 team leagues then a 3 up 3 down with 3rd a playoff would be good.

the cup is nothing like playing finals. The lesser team from the lower divsion is, in most cases likely to lose. Finals gives mid table teams a chance to make something of their season and maybe in the unlikely circumstances, even make promotion, but as i said before the top team gets automatic qualification after the minor round. 2nd place doesnt really mean much in the end.

Errrm, except for Div 1, Second spot means a fkn hell of a lot as it means promotion.

We already have a finals series. It runs for about 18 games over winter.
