For me, personally it's no.
Why risk being the best team all year round (home and away), to catch a team in great form who could get the better of you on the final day :?:
Playing home and away settles all arguments. The ladder never lies about which team were the best over 18 games. (Or however many teams are in your div) :wink:

How about a top 4 Cup after the season ends. The top 4 teams in the league qualify.
The top team is still the Div champions but brings a bit of serious knockout football post season.
Just an idea.

We have cup semifinals and finals after the season already.
Keep the league separate.

There used to be the Templin Cup which was a pre-season comp with 8 teams, 2 x groups of 4 with a final at the end.

yeah... let's drag the season on even more... or stop all the other teams playing earlier just so a team sitting 4th can win a flag...

finals = waste of time

so make that a NO

Yes great idea lets reward those that are average & get them to play against the good teams because our competition needs it.

18 league games isn't enough. I preferred 22 when in a division of 12 teams.

However if all divisions were 10 teams and there was no Champion of Champions, why not? I think finals are not a bad idea for the top division where playing for that 2nd promotion spot doesn't occur.

Finals are a great idea. Bring excitment back to the competition. Anyone who has played finals football knows the standard and desperation is raised. Top team gets automatic promotion and the other 4 teams fight it out for the second promotion spot.
If your in div 1 then its a chance to show your dominance by taking out both the minor premiership and the final series. Every team should strive to make finals and it gives the lesser teams a chance to make something of their season with a do or die attituted.

There is a final series, its called the Amatuer League Challenge Cup. Other than that there is absolutely no way in hell there should be a finals series to decide divisional winners over a season. Sure it may bring some excitement but so does winning the league.

Thoughts on a finals series for the other promoted team ala the playoffs in England?

I think it would be ok if there were 3 teams going up, but not for 2 teams going up.
