How much does it cost a club to win Sunday Premier League
Thought this might be a bit topical. Was just reading another thread.
To be up there in this almost "semi-professional" league, you need to pay players, some individuals getting big money.
This can come at a cost for some clubs who might over do it and run out of coin..
Obviously private sponsors help clubs ease the burden, but what do you think the budget of a club might be for their football dept to have the stock necessary to win the league ??

Re: How much does it cost a club to win Sunday Premier Leagu
There is speculation that Florina's season player wages = 50k per season. I dont know whether this takes into account managers and ancillary staff.
also hearsay.. some players in that team are getting paid $600 a week. so the 50k could be reasonable.
please note.. before anyone from Florina goes bunta... its only speculation... and hearsay... and used for the purpose of adding some value to this thread.
I would say 35-45k

50k, that'd be a stretch, don't think many super league clubs would be anywhere near that either, but a post to get some discussion going nonetheless!

Re: How much does it cost a club to win Sunday Premier Leagu
ok... lets do some maths
coach = 3,000 for the season
say you pay 7 players
2 players= 200 per week
3 players = 100 per week
2 players = 50 perweek
total games (including cup games) = 18 + 5 = 23
$19,550 for players
$3,000 for the coach
$22,550
coach = 3,000 for the season
say you pay 7 players
2 players= 200 per week
3 players = 100 per week
2 players = 50 perweek
total games (including cup games) = 18 + 5 = 23
$19,550 for players
$3,000 for the coach
$22,550
Re: How much does it cost a club to win Sunday Premier Leagu
not to quiver over $1000 General but on those calculations the weekly players bill would be $800.00BeogradGeneralsC's wrote:ok... lets do some maths

$800.00 x 23 games = $18,400.00
+ $3,000.00 for coach = $21,400.00
just an observation

So what are you saying ? That those players have taken a paycut this year ?BeogradGeneralsC's wrote:There is speculation that Florina's season player wages = 50k per season. I dont know whether this takes into account managers and ancillary staff.

I was in there for a drink after a game ( a few seasons ago )and in about two and a half hours they sold two complete series of those Bingo tickets- most clubs take a week to sell just one series. Was made to feel welcome, impressed with the way they promote things.

If he is Good Luck to him, why is everyone so concerned with what players are getting paid? The quality of players in our competition have improved dramatically over the last few yearsPaleon Patros Germanos wrote:I have heard Westers is on $900 a week.
Div.1 Amateur League Aussie Rules has been paying players money for years & getting quality player & its a quality competition & do you recon anyone concerned???

There's only 9 clubs 'higher' than the Div 1 Amateurs AFL though. In theory for us there is 29.nuggett69 wrote:If he is Good Luck to him, why is everyone so concerned with what players are getting paid? Like the guy said it is speculation Uncle Cracker but lets do an example over 20 games (lets include a few cup games):Uncle Cracker wrote:BeogradGeneralsC's wrote:There is speculation that Florina's season player wages = 50k per season. Westers - not unreasonable in my books to assume he is getting $600 a week for coaching and playing (in my books conservative)
Brooks - $300
Fuda - $200
Manca - $100
Lets assume the remaining players average would be $80 per player for the other 7 players which comes to $560 per week.
I would say the numbers I have quoted are on the conservative side as well.
Total bill over 20 games would then be around $35,000.
and again I would say the figures I have quoted are VERY conservative.
Doesn't take into account any bonuses for winning the league etc either.
Re: How much does it cost a club to win Sunday Premier Leagu
Fact or fiction;
Westervelt's total package last year including bonuses: $15k
Not saying it's a bad thing at all, very astute signing and if the money is there then good on them, they have no one to answer to but themselves.

Re: How much does it cost a club to win Sunday Premier Leagu
If we had 50k to spend on wages, as BeogradGeneral speculates, we'd be able to attract a raft of current super league players.
You guys seriously have been sitting to close to your gas heaters this winter.
And for once i agree with Nuggett - the better teams in the Sat and Sun SAASL Div 1 would easily account for some State League teams, aren't you people just happy to be associated with such a quality amatuer league?
At Florina alone we have three former NSL players and a FFSA Hall of Famer - im just honoured to be able to train with these guys and call them friends.

it woudl be interesting to see someone who does the books to provide an insight... otherwise its going to be speculation all around.
If i wanted a winning amateur club, and made sure the budget was a in a little bit of surplus every year... i could bank on between 25k and 30k for club payments.

I think this is slightly linked to nuggets other thread about how much winning the league 'means to you/the club'. Obviously those that really want to win at all costs, seems to be the guys mainly from downs, florina, gardens, will defend the money-wheeling ways.
I can see the pros and cons of both arguments, but personally hope my club will never end up paying players as it would ruin (imo) the perfect social harmony that exists at oisc between players of all skill levels.
Re: How much does it cost a club to win Sunday Premier Leagu
guys be serious.
Westers, Brooks, Fuda to name a few play at Florina for the barbie after the game.
And Manca left West Beach and his mates to drive 35 mins to get to the club every week cos he loves the barbie too.
Good on Florina if they can afford it - nothing to be ashamed about in paying players very good money but dont take us for fools as we r not stupid.
