At the start of the season the SAASL agreed that Torrens Valley were to play their home fixtures at 3.00pm. Torrens Valley don't finalise the times, the SAASL do. Therefore, each team in div.6 when playing away to Trrens Valley are to kick off at 3.00pm. I disagree with them being allowed a 3.00pm kick off but that's not the point. The point is that if the MA Hawks can't get a team together to play Torrens Valley at Torrens Valley at 3.00pm, then surely the Hawks should be made to forfeit.
I agree with all of this, hence the question if the SAASL would consider the reason to be sufficient to postpone a game.
The club was not informed of the start time full stop.

We wrote to the League and even offered our ground with no reply.

We are very happy to play TV at their ground for the catch up game but at 11.30am.

If the Hawks are to lose their points then the league has something to answer to when TV give us an excuse of "working in the mornings" as the reason they can't play in the morning...excuse me, what happens to their away games?

But, end of the day, TV should win the league as Iggies dropped points on the weekend...unless Comets beat them on their catch up game then the title is theirs...
Not sure where this working in the mornings thing came from but it sounds false. They've made all their away games (11.30) this season, and at their ground the games are 3pm because of juniors as has been mentioned many times already.

Interesting situation as they are obviously good enough to play at in a higher division yet can't (no reserves), so end up stuffing things around in div 6 (no disrespect to TV - it's just what has happened),

Comets, FC Adelaide, and MA Hawks will be able to use Reserve team players in the catch-up matches (loophole in the 'stacking' rule - see below).

TV had 12 blokes show up for the 11:30am fixture at our ground (with I think one on the bench who didn't come on). Our players remarked that there were no different or new players to when they played at their ground.

SAASL League Competition Rules wrote:No club shall use in its Reserve or Thirds team, a player who is a regular first team player. For the purpose of interpreting this sub-rule, a regular first team player is one who has played 80 per centum of games in the first division as at the time of completion of 80 per centum of the prescribed fixtures, (calculated to the nearest whole game). Where there is good reason to suspect a breach of this rule the club will be charged with misconduct and if the Disciplinary Committee finds the charge sustained the offending club shall forfeit the match in which a player is used and may, in addition, be subject to additional penalty or penalties. This rule is only applicable to catch up fixtures where the senior team is not playing.

They played in division four with no reserves team last season and a few clubs are doing that now, so I can't see any reason why they weren't left in division four.

I don't agree with the 3:00pm kick off for this division, but other clubs have lumped it, why should the Hawks be any different?

The "working in the morning" comment was in the email I received from TV when questioned about the 3pm start, this was from their Team Manager.
This email was also forwarded to the League when we made an inquiry to them.

It isn't something that was made up, it was the excuse given to me.

Like I said before, we are very happy to play the catch up game at their ground but at 11.30am and without stacking the team.
We would be happy to present all our game sheets to prove on the day that all the players were C's.

As for Bodo and your comment...we didn't ask to be different...

We entered a C team for players not able to make the A and B grade but mostly for players that work and can only play before 2pm.
That is what 6th division is for...
It is TV that are being different and are kicking their games off at 3pm.
So Bodo...if other clubs have lumped it this year, congratulations...we are not going to turn up to a game with 7 players especially when no notification was given to the club by the League or by TV...

And if the League accepts TV "working" situation then they must accpet ours as well...

I thought the fixture always said 3:oopm kick off at TV. I prefer 11:30 kick off but at the end of the day as long as we get a kick im not fussed.

Torrens Valley v Southern Breakers catch up game will be played this Saturday at 11.30am not 3pm due to no junior games.

Apparently OISC v Vipers catch up will be played Thurs 9/9/10 at Grange, kick off 7pm.

Two games in 3 days for us, at least the season will be finished after this weekend.

Gents..

Just regarding the catch up games, TV vs MAHawks & TV vs Comets...

We just received a letter from the league announcing that the points will be awarded to TV and no catch up game will be scheduled...

This means TV will win the Div 6 league on a technicality and I hope they enjoy their celebrations as when we play them next year we will remind them of their gutless effort in winning the league...

Why I say "on a technicality" and "their gutless effort"??

We made every effort to organise a catch up game with TV...
We sent emails, made phone calls and TV didn't reply to any of our emails...
We then wrote an email to the league and highlighted our effort to organise a game with TV and their lack of effort to reply...

But, the league saw it best to give the points to TV and take away any chance of us playing our catch up game...

To the team manager of Torrens Valley...you are a gutless man for not making any effort to organise a catch up game and I can't wait for the opportunity to show my anger when we next meet next season!!!!

Enjoy the League win...It is a pity you need to play in a C division (E division for Iggies) to give your one team a chance to win a League Title...

As for Iggies, sorry guys, we did try our best...good luck in 1st Div for your A's and B's and 5th Division for you E's...I personally will miss our rivarly...

How can a team be awarded points for not playing a game? I can understand if the game started and some trouble ensued, but doesnt seem the case here? Bizarre!

Can you upload a copy of the letter? I assume it will be in the mail tonight.

If TV lose to Southern Breakers or Monarchs in their other two catchup fixtures (which they won't), then it won't really matter.

I presume the letter will only be mailed to Comets and MAHawks...

And I don't think it would be politically correct if I upload the letter on this site....

If this is true, it is a crock of sh1t decision.

If all games are played as should be I can't see Iggies getting the title anyway but that doesn't mean it should
be handed to them without earning it.

Strange indeed. :?

The Hawks didn't forfeit the game...we tried our best to organise a catch up game as per my write up above...

And if TV lost one game then the Iggies would have won the League on goal difference...and remember, they lost to Vipers only a few weeks ago and the Hawks weren't going all the way to their ground for a loss...

But like I said, next year we will remind them...
