An undermanned Downs ressies side were well beaten in the end by Farm today but put up a pretty gutsy performance under the circumstances. I thought the old fella refereeing was excellent. Didn't miss a great deal, had a sense of humour, spoke to the players but laid down the law when he had to. A few of the younger ones could learn a bit from watching him.

completley agree that we were undermanned with no subs and bare 11 just before kick off. Injury took us down to 10 men for most of the game. held farm at 1-1 with the 10 men but the one man advantage took its toll on us and 3-1 at half time and 5-1 at full time. I managed to keep as many out as possible but was hard with 1 leg.

Glynn (sp?) is always a good referee have always enjoyed having him call our games is happy to have a laugh at times.

Dam my curse claiming its toll on me again this year i cant walk very well today and again was concussed thanks to a ball to the face on the sideline which knocked me out ahh the joys of the curse.

vista vs gully - a close 1st half with Gully creating some chances, vista should have been 3-1 atleast at half time, 2nd half all vista, controlled the game and TTG need to look at your game plan, however it has changed from long ball, too much emphasis to have on 1 player in Derek Simpson, there is only so much he can do, and being well under done due to injury, a few more guys should have stood up and played the ball not the man. Pete Mac - tatoos very rarely fade but we'd never have you back. Well done to the ref today, could have sent off more than just the 1 player off today but think all hell would have broken loose if that happened, although it should have. Hopefully for the gully the guys that couldn't play Friday made a huge difference in the outcome of the result, although i thought the lighting looked ok after the game!!!!!!!!

vista young lads rode the bumps and stood up against everything that was thrown at them, great effort, 6 games to go 18 points on the line
You go on the p*ss all day, you've ballooned out like the Pillsbury Doughboy!
You could go to jail for this! What sort of system am I going to play then? Three across the middle and one in bloody Pentonville? *Mike Basset*

watched a good game between downs and farm yesterday, farm probably shouldve scored one of the 10 shots they had in the last 15 minutes. best chance probably the miscontrol from the bald 12, wouldve had a tap in had his first touch been better. probably an unfair result possession and chances wise, having said that tasovac shouldve been sent off for elbows raised (and aimed) every time he goes into the air

far more importantly, farms chicken yiros is by far the best feed ive had at an amatuer game. $7 for some pita loaded with marinated chicken, garlic sauce, onion, lettuce, tomato. absolutely outstanding.

Ingle Farm V Elizabeth Downs

A very cold wet day saw a small crowd come out and watch this week. Cheers to the Farm and Downs faithful who braved the weather.

A's 0-1
BBQ duties prevent me from seeing much but a fairly even game with a solid 10 minute spell by the Downs saw them get a goal after about 70 mins. It was a nice little ball through the defence which S Parsi got on the end of. A tough but pretty fair game from all accounts.

B's 6-1 ?
For some reason the Downs were short a player or two and had to play about 60 mins (roughly) with 10 men due to injuries. They battled hard but eventually Farm weared them down to make the score 6-1 (I think). We scored in the opening few mintues and looked in control for most of the game against the 10 men. Good to see King Henrick back on the scorers sheet.

C P-P
Wanted to save the pitch which just helded up for the A's. Sorry to all the C's graders who missed out on a game but not a lot we could of done. In hindsight, not sure Downs had enough players anyway so was probably good it was postponed.

Over 35's
Same as C's

Girls V Adelaide Uni Lost 4-0.
I got to see my first ever 20 mins of the girls play and even with only 9 players, they did well. Hopefully a few more committed people will be back next week.

Thanks to the Downs for coming down on a horrible day. We knew the crowd would be low with no C team game and the cold but given those two things, we weren't disappointed with the attendance. Every Downs first team player, coach and chairman stayed around for a good 30-60 mins after the game for a drink

Also all the best to them and Vale next week for their Charity Day. Marooned has done a great job putting it together and I would urge all clubs to support the cause, irrespective of what you think about Elizabeth Downs or Elizabeth Vale.

Just a stir because he bought 6 beers from our bar so that he didn't have to keep walking back up to the bar.

Grumpy Townley was his usual grumpy self. Whinged and whined all day. He came back to my house for a roast dinner and a beer. He complained about the lack of gravy and proceeded to eat all my veggies and was seen stealing the leftover gravy from everyones plate. Gotta love the old fart.

not really, if he managed to inspire the 10 men to victory over the always solid farm he would have to start a late night TV style motivation academy...

Thanks to JT for standing in as coach for the week. It's a shame some last minute withdrawals let the team down. But we'll be back fighting this week I'm sure.
