His Brazil side was (for me at least) playing the best football in the World Cup, he shouldn't get sacked. He's built a formidable side, and they played beautifully up until that flukey Netherlands goal.

flukey goal? the keeper fucked up! just like our defense fucked up for brazils goal

leave out players like ronaldinho, diego and pato and you are asking for trouble if you dont succeed

that is why maradona better hope to win against germany, or else he is in all sorts as well.
still baffles me how an admittedly old player, but still class player like zanetti can not make the squad, but a dud like gutierez who gets made to look silly all the time is first place right back

The Brazil goal was more about a fantastic run by Robinho and a beautiful ball played in by ??? (can't remember) but the first Dutch goal was just a mix up, the second goal was more about Brazil falling to pieces and their total lack of defence on that play...the run by Sneijder was class though

Dunga gone

The decision was widely expected after Brazil's surprise 2-1 defeat to Holland in Port Elizabeth on Friday. Robinho's goal had given Brazil an early lead against the Dutch, but two second-half goals from Wesley Sneijder saw them crash out in the quarter-finals for the second World Cup in succession.

"With the closing of the work cycle that started in August 2006 and ended with the elimination of Brazil from the World Cup in South Africa, the CBF announces the dismissal of the Technical Commission of the Brazilian team," the Brazilian Football Federation said in a statement.

The federation added that a new coach would be appointed before the end of the month.

Mano Menezes, former Brazil player and AC Milan coach Leonardo, and Wanderley Luxemburgo have all been tipped by the Brazilian media as potential successors to Dunga.

Luiz Felipe Scolari, who coached Brazil to its fifth World Cup title in 2002, had previously been expected to return but has since distanced himself from the role, citing his commitments with Brazilian club Palmeiras.

I'm sick of hearing that it was a "surprise" defeat. It was Netherlands v Brazil; it could have gone either way.

If Brazil won, would it have been Netherland's surprise defeat to Brazil?

You can either quit or we'll sack you.

Dunga built a great side for a league team, but not for a tournament. That was his mistake i think.

Capello did the same thing, only he didn't have the luxury of any creativity.

Deservedly sacked. It was reported that past captain Dr Socrates said before this W.Cup that Dunga had cobbled together a style that was an affront to Brazilian culture of "jogo bonito".

They were poor in their group games v. N.Korea, Ivory Coast and Portugal, and Kaka and Gilberto looked shadows of themselves, with Gilberto particularly looking lost and negative in that midfield (in the mould of his boss Dunga).

The Brazilian public will never tolerate such a dour approach from their beloved Selecao on home turf in World Cup 2014.
