As far as I am concerned, someone whose both parents were born in greece is undeniably greek but you are also undeniably australian because you have an australian passport. If you didn't have one then you would be able to claim you are not australian.

Dont know where this came from Hawkesy but your father never grew up in Australia at any particular time did he??? I never asked you to accept it Hawkesy, im just telling you how it is to me. Im an Australian born Greek, thats the truth of the matter. I have an Australian passport because i was born here just like i would of had an Iranian passport if i were born in Iran or an English passport if i were born in England. That doesnt make me Iranian or English by blood, just by birth. I didnt have a choice where i was born much like i didnt have achoice to whom i was born, so i take my Australian birth as i do my Greek parents, without a choice though i love them both to bits. The reason i wasnt born where my parents were is the whole point of the matter, and we all know why that is. Having said that, i was brought up in this country as i would of been brought up in any other, in the Greek way, whats so hard to understand about that??? The only hypocrites, are those who called me a Wog when i was growing up but now abuse me for not calling myself "Australian", thats whats hypocritical. As a kid at post-war Marryatville Primary school out at Kensington Road opposite the Chelsea cinema in the late 1950s/early 1960s, we had players from England, Balts from Estonia with names like Laan, Greeks, Germans with names like 'Horst', Italians, Cypriots, Germans and multi-generation Anglo backgrounds with names like Miller, Barlow, etc. We played aussie-rules football on Friday arvos when the sheilas played netball, and soccer-football on Saturday mornings at Hutt Street parklands. We never thought in any racist terms through sport. We got the farkenn shock of our lives when we got to Norwood High School where there was no soccer team and the latin, chemistry & physics teacher embarrassed us in front of class about playing "that fairy sport" and bludgeoned us into quitting South Adelaide junior colts soccer club to play aussie rules for the high School...

Facts are these: Legally you are australian and whether I/ME/OR ANYONE ELSE feels differently, the law is very clear on this one.
