This Cup has been strange, and this forum has become shite with it now being solely a platform for "my country hates your country" posts, ridiculous really when the majority of you were born here and even if you weren't, you certainly live here now.

Was mildly interesting to read the posts at first, but now just plain stupid, with racism in Australia alive and well regardless of what people say. No, it isn't 'good natured banter', it is far worse and vitriolic than that and shows the majority of soccer fans have not advanced from the personal, flag burning racist taunts of 30 years ago.

My teams, Australia and Italy, are out and out early. It is a shame for me as my tournament interest had reduced accordingly but I see no need to waste my time now laughing and making personal attacks on each other country and their supporters as they exit.

Unusually France, England, Denmark, Mexico all also gone already, Greece and NZ's early exits perhaps less surprising, but does this mean all we have left is post after post of abuse? I think I prefer the vuvuzelas........

As the title says, I'm bored with the whole "your country sucks, divers, hair stylists, no Cup for 44 years, Euro 2004 was a fluke, blah blah blah"......and before anyone posts "well just don't read them", that's exactly what I intend to do.

Enjoy what's left of this World Cup, as soon enough it will be over and it will be back to AFL stories first up in every news bulletin for another 4 years!

Reminder that a perceived dive does not get a red card, a referee issues one. If he thought it was a clear cut dive, he would have given the offender a caution. I was under the opinion we Aussies (!) were hard done by in that match too, but it was 4 years ago and it's history now

I doubt your issues stem from a sense of Aussie injustice from 4 years ago, but more your deeply-ingrained Italy vs Greece rivalry/jealousy which really makes no sense in 2010. Worry about what Australia does, by all means follow Greece or whoever you like as well, and laugh your head off at Italy if it amuses you - but you don't speak for non-Italian football fans in this country, you really dont......you probably do reperesent a tiny handful of Greek-heritage supporters still holding onto memories of Euro 2004 and waiting like a poised 100m sprinter for Italy to fail to help with your insecurity.

Is Graham Poll English??? There was only 1 good ref i can ever remember and he now has sadly retired from International Football. Piere Luigi Collina (sp?) of Italy was the best ref id ever seen, the rest are and have been garbage and they get worse and worse the older we get

so just consider football news as a cross section poll, mainly from SA and u'll understand the basic concept of representation
