A's - Sturt Marion 2-1 Adelaide Uni

Heard a sturt defender tipped a goal bound shot over the bar with his hand and the ref give it a corner

To make things worse the defender in question went down the other end to score.
It was a save any keeper would have been proud of. Even then Sturt Marion supporters standing at the club rooms saw it and were shocked it wasn't a red and a penalty. The same player (#15) hand balled it three times during the game in total, twice in the box, and then of course scored the winner......... He should go buy a lottery ticket he was that lucky.

Terrible day for us (The Breakers) we had several important players out from last weeks win over Gleeson but thats no excuse for yesterdays performances. Well done to our C's though who nearly got their first point of the season.

Full credit to Ignatians though, it was a classy perfromance in both A's and B's. Not quite so classy was the performance of their supporters who sat directly in front of our licensed bar/canteen drinking their own beers out of an esky.

I thought you guys frowned on that kind of behaviour or does the 'No BYO' rule only apply to visitors at Glenunga?

It was four beers and it was not out of an esky. It is not as if we sat there all day drinking beers.
Some guys were watching in the car and brought them with them when they left the vehicles to watch it on front of your canteen, Where we bought ALL of your sausage rolls, about 16 sausages in bread, hotdogs etc.
Yes we do frown upon people bringing beers to the ground and especially hate it when people rock up with eskies. However this was not really the case in this instance.
The Soccer was good and played in good spirit, and your C grade gave us a real run for our money.

"This was not really the case in this instance"
Well what was it then? You obviously brought beers with the intention of drinking them at our ground.
Yes, you are right you didnt have an esky, but to sit directly in front of our canteen and drink them is a little bit cheeky don't you think?
Also thank you for buying the sausages and other food which was much appreciatd, but if 4 beers (I thought you had 6) are ok then what number isn't? Just so we know the Rules for future.
Yes, the 3 games were played in good spirit and you played really good Football/Soccer, it's a credit to your club and I can see you heading back to Div. 1 for sure.
Also I would like to pay credit to the Referee (Nick) for doing a great job, there's not too many times you get your butt kicked and are satisfied with the "Whistle Blower"
As for the sport being called "Football", yes you are correct but it is also called Soccer and I do believe the World Cup Final is at Soccer City.
So who gives a toss what it's called it is still a great game.

*sigh*. Uninformed comments, particularly from a club that brought a full esky to Glenunga. I don't want to bite but I have to in this instance. 4 people were at a holiday home in between the C game and the A game and cracked open a beer. They decided to come back to the match to watch the A game with 4 half empty bottles of beer. If your individual hadn't acted so incredulously as opposed to merely informing them politely that it was against their licence they would not have decided out of principle to not buy any beers from SB particularly given what happened at Glenunga.

I guess those were the same 4 people amongst the plenty of OISC people that practically cleared out your canteen (best in Div 2) when they could have all so easily gone down the road to the infamous bakery.

We never ever have or would take an esky to any away ground so I would retract that statement immediately, regarding an esky.
they were full bottles as I was there not half full, I think you were playing at the time so I have no idea how you could see.
Anyway obviously we won't win this argument, because you will justify it some how.
So good luck for the rest of the year, but careful in saying we took an esky to your ground matey.

True, but the ref stated that he didn't see it... and the linesman is there, after all. It was their linesman too, so it wasn't like it was going to be given a penalty/red card if it didn't happen. He was originally going to give it a goal kick... Poor call, but not much anyone could do... *shrug*

...yes... hence the linesman... regardless of whatever the SAASL standard is, it's not like he'd be getting biased advice.

No its not, because we have played the Comets at their ground early in the season when our ground was deemed unplayable
Therefore the reverse game is our home game ... which gives us 3 home games in a row :D :D :D works out quite alright when you think we actually need to win these games and our home record isn't so bad over the years 8)
