major events that are all but certain to happen in the remainder of the first round and the business end of the tournament...
bit early to be reminiscing about something that isn't even halfway through yet

it wasn't and we had chances in the 2nd game to make it irrellivant but in the end we got done over by goal differance, goal differance we accumilated in that first game. In the end it cost us a round of 16 spot.

No, you weren't. Minutes after scoring, he attempted a simple ball out to the wing. Had a 10 metre gap to put it through... and missed. He's effective in the forward impetus he gives the team, and his work rate... but not much more.

Red cards costs us dearly too. I think we would've beaten Ghana with 11 - and qualified with 6 points. Shit happens.

I'll remember Kosta Utd's futile attempt to justify the Greek's pathetic attempt in their last game and Hawksey's systematic demolition of his argument making him look even more stupid.

I'll also remember that I spent the first week wondering how Francis Rossi got involved in soccer punditry on SBS before I found out it was Craig Johnstone.

Socceroo's debacle in the first game, which cost us a place in the last 16.
Not Cahill's or Kewell's red cards.
Not Wilkshire's miss.
But Pim's gameplan against Germany. :x

What actually cost us was our inability to put a second goal away against Ghana. Germany was always a write-off and I don't blame Pim for trying something different. Wasn't his fault that the defenders couldn't keep a simple defensive shape to allow the offside trap to work. They did seem to learn against Serbia, however, and the shape looked a lot better.

He was already going with Fox Sports anyway.

You've lost any credibility you may have held.

Anyway, for me the big memory I'll take from this World Cup is Chile. They're a beautiful footballing nation. Also, Uruguay v Mexico.

Shame they won't then. You'll finish with no memories of the tournament.

- controversial ball :|
- vuvuzelas
- minnows making a name for themselves against the top nations (nz) :D
- the amount of cards shown, particularly soft red cards shown
- that a-league players can cope at this level (nz proves this) :D
- disappointing performances from big nations (france, england, italy)
