dunno about you, but I'd say 99% of the people watching would have their eye on the other game if SBS weren't telling us the scoreFranco UnAmerican wrote:Eve SBS give the result of the other match How farrkn unprofessional..
So much for tuning into the other match now I know the score
Moving on.........Proud of the boys last 2 games and as the commentators said, much more Australian like performances.
Well done Australia but not enough to advance.

Holman's turning into Wilkshire... no one knew why he kept getting picked and all of a sudden he starts playing well...
will be a very handy player to have in 4 years if he keeps improving

you sure, he still can't hit a target when passing over 5 yardsLoppermann wrote:Holman's turning into Wilkshire... no one knew why he kept getting picked and all of a sudden he starts playing well...

2nd half is how they should have played the whole tournament. good to see them actually go for it. be proud. very strong group and we only got knocked out because of -3 goals we conceded over ghana. if only kewell didn't handball..

if only Scwharzer had saved the penalty, if only Germany hadn't scored and Ghana had, if only the entire German starting XI had never been born...dinozoff wrote:totsreds08 wrote:2nd half is how they should have played the whole tournament. good to see them actually go for it. be proud. very strong group and we only got knocked out because of -3 goals we conceded over ghana. if only kewell didn't handball..

I was actualy going to do a similar post to this but I thought I'd just go with the flow. But I think wilkshires miss was worse then Harrys "handball"

was a very simple finish
needed a cool head and didn't have one
Re: Australia v Serbia
serbia = a disgrace of a football nation.
if ever FIFA needed strong evidence to introduce video ref, this WC is it, never seen ref's been such a joke on a consistant basis, seemed very much like a netball game at times.
great effort aussies tho. i dont really have to re-iterate what is being said tho. did well against ghana, serbia, but played like they didnt wanna win against germany. bar the bullshit calls things could have been better for us, but no point making assumptions now.
out of the games...holman was the best for us imo.

Re: Australia v Serbia
It's just dissapiointing knowing had we'd gone through we would of had the "easiest" run to the semi finals with only England and either uraguay or Korea to beat.

Re: Australia v Serbia
Cahill should have been sent off and Serbia given a penalty. Anyone could see that Cahill deliberately spread his arms and had his back to the play to disguise that his deliberate intention to handle the ball....no wonder the Serbians were upset !

well said, am very proud of the how boys responded after the 1st gameHinderz wrote:It's a shame we didn't stick to our usual plan against Germany, maybe the story could have been much different.
Talk about repaying the faith, Brett Holman, well done, if someone told me 18 months ago Brett Holman was going to score twice at the world cup I'd have called them crazy
proud of the lads, did well (2/3 of the time) now it's time for some of these older boys to hang up the international boots and ce back to the Aleague

Even though I love Spain above all else, I am proud to have been born in Australia after that performance.

i love how all the serbian players and officials were complaining to the ref after the game
how could cahill even know he was going to handball it with his back to the ball, some players have no idea.
im not making excuses but the way we have been referee'd has been appauling and contributed to our exit

I disagree. Yes, we copped some harsh punishments, but had Pim put the best side on the park against the Germans, we may have had half a chance to make it to the last 16. But he was content with giving the game up before Kick Off.
PS - Scott MocDonald would have scored the sitter Luke missed the other night!

As soon as this group was drawn I said Germany and Ghana would advance. Anyway, at least it was a good game and they got some respect back. One win, one draw, one loss was good enough last time, but not this time. Dont give a flying fuck whoever wins it now - just hope for good games.

Based on his sparkling goal scoring feats in a green and gold shirt so far?
Would much rather have Wilky overall, he has been good.....sure he missed a goal but only one of a list of what-ifs in this tournament
Re: Australia v Serbia
Craig Foster was right, we had the cattle but a pathetic Drover. Still, to have Chipperfield on the bench and play crap Carney just amazes me. I have said that guy is rubbish from day one but yet he still gets a go and people still back him.
Still, after a bad start we save a little face.
Germany V England next round, what a cracker. England's worst nightmare, one big gun will be out.

i guess your opinion is the only one that matters then
carney i thought did well in both games he played. he'll have the left back/midfield spot for a while i think so get used to him

agree completely. Just gotta work out how to use him and Cahill in the same side.Loppermann wrote:Holman's turning into Wilkshire... no one knew why he kept getting picked and all of a sudden he starts playing well...

Holman's been great this World Cup. Always added an energy to the midfield when he was introduced and 2 goals to boot.
One of Australia's best this campaign.
