Atleast Italy have players to rebuild with, when this freak generation of Australian players ends, the only way they will qualify is if they host it and get automatic entry.

Hahah see, Greasy Wogs, Doggers it's all good. We are who we are.
What the!!!! I tell you what guys, take out your passport and look real closely at what Nationality is written on there. I think you will find that 99% of you fall into the same category. Even funnier is that 99% of you commenting on here are probably born in Australia, with Australian born parents. OK, be proud of your heritage but that does not take away the fact you are Australian and should be proud of it.
Yes we are all born in Australia, but what is Australian? We are hardly a united nation because we still only see each other as Wogs, Lebs, Blacks and Asians. So we may be Australian but to distinguish ourselves our individual races are used. After all, i'm "Australian" but there is no anglo saxon blood in me, so what is "Australian"? Not saying i'm not proud of living in Australia but when others say shit about Italy, then thats who i defend.

My 2 cents on Italy is that their defence is well passed its use by date. Why the hell Di Natale doesnt start all the time is beyond me. Very average performance although they did create enough chances to beat New Zealand. Having said that, im not getting up to watch them get shot by the taliban snipers in the crowd anymore, im really over it to be honest with you. Every single time they get touched or not touched, they seem to go down in a heap holding their faces like they were shot in the head. The fact that the referee booked the New Zealand Captain at the end of the game for feigning injury when the bloke had a cramp was ridiculous when you consider he didnt book one Italian for diving, and they dived in every single free kick they received, pathetic really. Oh well, Italy is guranteed 11 Gold medals in the pool at the next Olympic Games, but the sooner i see them out of this World Cup, the better. Its teams like the Italian one of this World Cup thats earnt a reputation in this country of SHEILAS, P00FTERS & WOGS. What a blight on the game, even the Italians on here cannot deny it as anything less than embarassing

Indeed. We all knew about the defence months ago, but not much you can do. Prandelli won't let it be in a state such as this I imagine though, so that is something to look forward to.COLOSSUS wrote:My 2 cents on Italy is that their defence is well passed its use by date. Seems to me like players are likely to go down when they get elbowed in the face, which happened all too frequently, all by the same player. Fallon was quite dirty and should have been sent off after the third elbow to an opponents face, which was the one which only brandished a yellow card. When we are talking players falling to the ground with no contact (ala Malouda, World Cup final 2006 which is the first one to come to mind) then that is certainly embarassing. But this is not something you see all the time.Having said that, im not getting up to watch them get shot by the taliban snipers in the crowd anymore, im really over it to be honest with you. The issue of players making a foul perhaps look worse than what it is alot of the time constitues what we see as 'diving'. You could blame the player for this, but on the other hand why not the referees? Should a player be fouled and not go to ground I bet on most occasions the foul will not be given. Yet going to ground will help ensure the correct call is made, ala the De Rossi incident against NZ. Without a doubt a penalty because of the hold of the shirt, but an offence like that is not called nearly enough.
Re: lets all laugh at italy!!!!!!!!!!!
Juventino, dont get me wrong here, if a player is being tugged by the shirt or has an arm wrapped around him, then he has every right to over act and "milk" the incident so the ref sees it and pays the appropriate free kick/penalty, you wont get an arguement from me on that. However, do you call those taliban snipers "elbows"??? Come on mate, not even you could defend that crap. Believe me, if your players were copping "elbows" like you say, they wouldnt of got straight back up like nothing had happened. That was the worse case of diving ive seen so far at this WC. On the penalty, whilst i think shirt pulling shouldnt be allowed in any way or form, that was also the softest penalty ive seen at the cup and one which in my opinion the referee was just waiting to give. When you consider players literally hold opponents in nearly every corner you see in modern day football, then that penalty was the softest ever given. Not saying it wasnt there or shouldnt be given, but put everything into context and dont piss in my ear and tell me its raining. As for the diving, sorry dude, but thats my opinion, and im generally one who doesnt mind players milking a free kick but diving like youve been shot in the head from close range isnt and shouldnt be allowed in the game, its those sorts of things that give the game a bad reputation. Having said all of that, Italy is still well placed to advance to the next round and i expect her to do so, hopefully minus the taliban snipers because you have some wonderful players in that team whom id like to se for another couple of gamesJuventino wrote:Indeed. What exactly did i say that makes me a knob? If you were born in China? Would you consider yourself Chinese? I think Italians receive alot of undue scrutiny to do with "diving", yes, i won't deny it, we do feign injury alot and make the most of each challenge. But even New Zealand were diving, there isnt one team in this World Cup that doesn't do it, just because Italy has a repuation for it, we cop most of the abuse from media and most people.COLOSSUS wrote:Juventino, dont get me wrong here, if a player is being tugged by the shirt or has an arm wrapped around him, then he has every right to over act and "milk" the incident so the ref sees it and pays the appropriate free kick/penalty, you wont get an arguement from me on that. Come on, Falon blatantly elbowed a number of players. He was pushing his luck. In saying that, I did wish that some of the Italian players farken got on with the job once the foul was given.

Slovakia's second was a kick up the bum for Italy - Dominated the last 15-20 minutes, Slovaks played on the counter and luckily got thier third.

Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of fucking car keys now, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-fucking-spicuous now, is it?

Isn't it just pathetic that it took two goals for the players to think "oh crap, we are going out here" and actually try and win the game.BrickTop wrote:Slovakia's second was a kick up the bum for Italy - Dominated the last 15-20 minutes, Slovaks played on the counter and luckily got thier third.

Re: lets all laugh at italy!!!!!!!!!!!
agreed with juventino. although our squad isn't as good as what it was 4 years ago due to the age of some players, on paper we still should have pushed through this group rather easily. some players didn't look like they needed to try while some others looked slow and sloppy. italy played too many long balls and it cost them. team choices were a problem and hopefully prandelli can change it up a bit
