Re: referees ruining the world cup
fair call, the whole tournament has been pretty average. poor crowds, poor refs and the matches have been of poor quality

Brazillians have been pretty good at doing it for years... it's about time they were on the receiving end of someone conning a ref.DOC wrote:after kaka last night

how many mistakes have the refs made though?
Bottom line is, if they players didn't cheat and dive then it would be irrelevant.

i may need to get my eyes checked but where is the word mistake mentioned lack of consistency in decision making towards hand balls & tackles
only mistake i've seen is letting england into the tournament

To be fair, I think players need to take some responsibility here...
Diving is a blight on the game and FIFA need to stamp it out with Post match penalties!!

Re: referees ruining the world cup
It will be interesting to see if some of the refs involved in controversies get a gig in later rounds...
I wonder if Lord Uberfuhrer Sepp Blatter stuck to his threat to send refs on the 1st plane outta there if they didn't properly apply law 12 in red carding hackers for tackles-from-behind?
And what happened to the new reporting powers of the 4th officials? They're still just holding up substitutions numbers and time-added-on figures...

Re: referees ruining the world cup
refs do get a chat, mark shield mentioned his briefing before korea when discussing harry kewells handball
ned zelic made a good point last night, players need to be booked for diving more, the refs are too easily conned and so the players will do it, behrami should have never been sent off, like kaka, and the chile player should have never seen a card for the incident with von bergen
basically a ref needs to show in the first 10 minutes no simultion will be tolerated and he will have control of the players, the ref in chile, swiss game lost them early, was card happy and there were poor disicions and dives all over the place, nd then he books someone for diving in the 90th minute

There speaks a man who's never refereed a game in his life. How do they show that no simulation will be tolerated if they're too easily conned? They won't know if it's simulation or not, and you'd be the first to moan if Kewell got fouled and then booked for diving.
In real time, it's nearly always too fast to be sure and, until FIFA introduce video evidence either during or after the game, it will be almost impossible to stop.

After game bookings for divers. No other way, or like Nice One Cyril mentioned, introducing video replays during the game, which, as FIFA plainly stated few times lately, won't happen.

Re: referees ruining the world cup
A booking will be no use. If they're found guilty they should get at least a 2 game ban for serious foul play. It undermines the integrity of the game imo. Then, and only then, the managers will be telling them to stay on their feet.coachingsoccer wrote:After game bookings for divers. I use this football betting system & make a tax free profit of $3000 a week. Have a look, there is a 100% money back guartantee, I made my money back after my first 'bet'.

Achtung: Warden of HM Prison OZ(except SA), aka Hawkesy. I have yet to see refs consult the 4th official about anything. If Lucas Neill met his captain's responsibilities he should have verbally dragged the central ref over to get the 4th official's version of what he saw when Bresciano got kicked up the arse by Ghana's Addy. I have seen refs change their decision after consulting assistants....
Achtung: Nice One Cyril et Coachingsoccer.com.au. I'm being pedantic but it's not FIFA with the ultimate decision to change things re divers, video technology, etc. It's I.F.A.B., the International FA Board. Consists of 8 members (Wales, N.Ireland, England &Scotland, and 4 FIFA delegates representing the other 204 nations). 6 out of 8 votes (ie 3/4 majority) are needed to change a law....

How would you see it when they can talk to each other from the other side of the pitch?
Could you please show me the law that gives Neill the right as skipper to "verbally drag anyone over"?
