I disagree.
How many teams in WC do not participate in all 3 group games?

On Greece's performance:

- Controlled the tempo without dominating just OK before the Nigeria goal
- The red card totally changed the match; intelligent pro active first half sub by Otto ( ) to throw on an attacking midfielder for a defender as Nigeria went with 1 upfront.
- Greece very predictable going forward. Its either wide for a cross which the Nigerian defence dealt with easily or a shot from 30 yards out.
- Which was a bit useless really when you have a combination of Gekas and Salpigidis upfront who are both under 180cm against beasty Nigerian centrebacks.
- Clearly missing a creative influence in midfield Greece. So much room between the Nigerian lines.
- Not going for a 3rd goal will prove costly (goal difference)

Good result.
Performance can improve. and needs to by a long shot to get a point from Argies.

You serious Kop??? They didnt deal with those crosses at all but rather their goal keeper did. Of course we were going to go wide, when playing against 10 men, you have to tire them out and Greece just pushed the ball around but they wanted to clog up the middle so naturally the only option was to go wide. Our first goal came from a run down the wing which eventually turned into a shot from the right side of the box and the second goal came from the other wing where eventually tziolis hit it from the middle and the toe poke follow through but on both occassions Nigeria were defending with the thought of a cross was going to come in which never did. Also we had plenty of chances from outwide, some the keeper saved and others the delivery was average and never even made the danger zone. I thought Greece played against 10 men very well when you consider the performance we put in v S Korea, we could of easily expected to see nothing from Greece even after the red card but we did, and they came back from 1 nil down to win, for that you have to give some credit, surely???

Dont think its going to matter to be honest, ultimately, the most important game of the tournament we lost and that was the first game, it was always going to be catch up football from there on. Too little too late although qualification to the next round would be nice, im just happy if they finish off the tournament with a decent showing v Argentina regardless of the score. They have paid one team back from the last World Cup debacle of 94, if they hurt like we did from back then, they will try and punish Maradonas men, but fuck i just cant see it 8)

some of you blamed otto for costing greece the 1st game but havent mentioned the tactical change made just after he red card. playing against 10 men doesnt ensure a victory...

he changed from a 4 man back line to a 3 man defence by taking off a defender and putting on an attacking midfielder....

Never played a 4 man backline. If you relied on the crappily researched graphic lineup at the start of the game you would have been mistaken.

dont want to harp on it but if he started with a 3-5-1-1 fomation (or somthing similar) he would have had to alter the structure to accomadate Georgios Samaras for Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

if he didnt change the structure, who from the midfield replaced papastathopoulos in defence????

Thats exactly what happened.
No one replaced papastathopoulos in defence.

Nigeria dropped their striker to midfield after the red--they only had 1 upfront.
Instead of a central 3, he changed to a central 2 as soon as that happened.
