Bad decision on my behalf to go and watch this game yesterday. Firstly as a game, it was a shocker! hardly a decent passage of play all game...BESA 15 up front looked sharp and should be playing for a decent team, gave Villa heaps of trouble all day..very handy but very lazy (hence why he's playing with these guys). Villa tried to keep some control but got dragged down to their level. Villa defended well but failed to realise that the BESA defence was (Square,Old and Slow) took too long to bring on some pace IMO with instant results. As for the trouble...well....what can you say....as a 100% neutral....BESA No 8 was a psycho...provoked by about 20 psycho's on the side lines. The ref copped every profanity possible and everything he called was 100%....we would have him all 18 weeks of the year no probs. Well done to the Ref and the Villa players and supporters for not letting it get out of control (100% looking after their players from the side lines.), as you could see the other mob were provoking it.!!! Just to finish..must say that most of the BESA players were good also. So called supporters supposedly watching the gametheboss wrote:A's
Salisbury Villa 1- BESA 0
Salisbury Villa understrength but still managed to scrape through with a gutsy win. BESA not a bad side but today showed why they were kicked out of the league under Black Eagles. I know we haven't been angels in the past but today was an absolute disgrace. While most of their players were well behaved their supporters turned the game into a farce. The game was stopped for close to 10 mins when a few words were exchanged between players and spectators, these idiots thought it was acceptable to run over to the other side of the ground and start threatening some of our spectators. A couple of punches got thrown and it got very ugly. The amateur league should have never let these guys back in and have to take a serious look at them. AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!

Re: Cup Round 2
Bit harsh Miss Tragic , just didn't want to wear gloves today (they didn't work for England's keeper)...We have 2 keepers out with injuries and our current A's keeper was away for the weekend. Like Vipers Knights were struggling to numbers for today's game (hence my inclusion and no photos for today)
At 51 years old ( and carrying a bit to much body mass around ! ) there's a good chance I was going to be somewhat ordinary which is more an embarrassment for yourselves than me...didn't even force a save out of me from the penalty Vipers had .....I did touch one onto the bar, a couple around the post ( even saved a curling free kick with my face ) and denied your team a 3rd in the dying stages.
Although Vipers played better on the day Knights still had many opportunities to put Vipers away.
PS - we'll donate the slab of beer we had waiting for you guys in the Clubrooms to a good cause ![/quote]
Hold your head high Swanny, you did a excellent job yesterday.
The fact that Miss Magic feels necessary to get on here and try to rub it in, is funny in itself.
May be she is a bit annoyed we stopped them from walking away with one of our warm up balls clearly marked Sthn Knights
OR
maybe Miss Magic feels that we were going to get straight of FN and highlight the fact that lack of sportsman ship shown when we had kicked a ball out for one of our injured players, only for Vipers to play on as normal and not give us the ball back.
By the way Swanny we would of glady help the carton vanish

Sorry, I see nothing wrong with this. It shouldn't be up to players to play the ball out, but up to the referee to stop play if he/she deems it necessary.MATTY6 wrote:highlight the fact that lack of sportsman ship shown when we had kicked a ball out for one of our injured players, only for Vipers to play on as normal and not give us the ball back.

It was a head injury and "everyone loves Raymond" did nothing about it !...other than that this is "amateur" football and falls under the category of good sportsmanshipBodø Glimt wrote:Sorry, I see nothing wrong with this. East took a 2 nil lead on the half hour mark but Downs never looked out of it, at the break East led 2.1. Two minutes into the second half 2.2. Downs created all the run and had multiple chances to take the lead, with 25 to go Downs went 3.2 up and 10 mins later 4.2. Cheers to all the East boys that came in for a drink after the game.

Re: Cup Round 2
Apologies if I have the divisions wrong, I did them from memory, I am a bit hazy on the Sunday ones. Seven clubs remain in both Cups: Adelaide University (two teams in the Reserve Cup still ), Elizabeth Downs, Elizabeth Vale, Modbury Vista, Old Ignatians, Parafield Gardens, and Salisbury Florina.
8 Saturday teams and 8 Sunday teams left in the Challenge Cup. 11 'Division 1' teams remain.
Challenge Cup
Adelaide University (Saturday Div 1)
Adelaide Villa (Saturday Div 1)
St Peters Old Collegians (Saturday Div 1)
Salisbury Villa (Saturday Div 1)
Sturt Marion (Saturday Div 1)
Vipers (Saturday Div 1)

Parafield Gardens (Sunday Div 1)
Salisbury Florina (Sunday Div 1)
Modbury Vista (Sunday Div 2)
Beograd (Sunday Div 3)
MSSC Blue Eagles (Sunday Div 3)
6 Saturday teams remain and 10 Sunday teams. Interesting that only 6 of the teams are 'Division 1' teams - remember that the 2009 Reserve Cup Final involved two 'Division 2' teams. Also amazing to see effectively the Adelaide University 'D' team still involved, beat a Sunday Div 1 side to progress

could also mean they were just f---'n s--t on Sunday Ive only seen them play once and IMO they were "average"

Was Miss Magic the slightly tubby brown haired chic that turned up a bit after kick off? If so she shouldn't be throwing stones at anyone as she's a candidate for the next biggest loser competition

@ all the Sth Knights crew. Go back and re read my original post about the game. It's not to bad is it? Not really much in there degrading the knights or many bad words about your club except for the ordinary keeper you guys had yeah?
But some of the responses....wow. Its so true what they say about you guys. Stolen balls, fat supporters, missed penalties the whinge list goes on . The collective replies in this topic highlight the bitterness in your teams loss. Take it easy it was after all just a cup game, I didn't mean to make you guys feel bad and be defensive. Lift your heads and stop being sore losers.

Didn't realise noting that you guys missed a penalty was a whinge...thought it was just a fact that you left out of your match summary
Best of luck on your Cup journey.

Classy responses from your guys though, and swanssong, I dont see why we would be embarrassed that we missed a penalty and you made a few saves (which is a keepers job), but good luck against Raptors this weekend.

Swanny don''t get so defensive. Most normal people would assume a goalie without gloves isnt a keeper. I didn't realise Robert Green has so much influence on you.
As for the our keepers name and number, check your team sheets

Why would most people assume a keeper without gloves is not a keeper....I had a pair sitting by the goalposts but didn't want to wear them. The new Nike balls have a good feel to them.
So Lev Yashin wasn't a keeper either ?
