Wright-Phillips should never be seen wearing an England shirt. Carragher will prove a liability if he plays again. Green made a critical error.
That apart, I'm relieved the first game is out of the way. Many half chances, but nothing really threatening. As I said previously, England don't have a good record against the Yanks, so I'm pleased we didn't get hit by the sucker punch.
Come on England.

SWP was rather poor. green was very unfortunate, will bounce back. was it a case of the ball though?...

start crouch for the next game. and replace SWP for gareth barry, that guy can pick out anyone from anywhere.

Yet he made a crucial save later, knocking the ball onto the crossbar.

It's funny isn't it. If that deflection onto the woodwork had gone in off it would have been blunder number two. Fine margins.

Overall a disappointing performance and result but England should still qualify. Of more concern is King's injury. Carragher looked very slow and vulnerable. Sure, tonight he "used his experience" (played a little dirty) to compensate for his lack of pace but against a better side they'll exploit it to devastating effect. Worrying times. If England go far in this World Cup they'll have done exceptional.

Glen Johnson MOTM for me, at least in England's team that is.

Don't think it was a case with the ball, simply poor goalkeeping from Green.

66 goals against in the EPL last season playing for west ham. wouldn't be my no1 choice between the sticks. joe hart on the other hand had a very good season on loan at Birmingham, and for many would have been first choice.
