Westies got a flogging today from a team they would normally have beaten. Not this year. If anyone at the game can tell me why you would have one of the leagues best playmakers at left back (eric van rhysinger) and one of our best defenders on the bench could you please enlighten me. I realize that with seven regular starters missing from last year that we have to call on our reserve standard players to field a team but with selections and team placements like today no wonder the goals against are now 27. Have had one of the best defences the past two years and its a bitter pill to swallow. Rob Spibey carried off on a stretcher today and off to hospital with a nasty leg injury, hope all is well.

Fantastic Win by our boys today they Dominated all game
If it wasn't for Big Ben between the sticks it wouldve been a absolute flogging he pulled off 3 off the best saves I've seen in ages...
Anthony Stamm is still yet to conceed a goal in general player this year....
Pick up of the Year what a GUN !

Scrappy game, but as scoreline indicates Florina well on top.
Poor Louie did his knee and looks like he'll need a recon. Always bad to see, great bloke - and Florina will be holding a function to try and cover op. Louie is self employed - which makes things even worse.
brooksy got 3 big trev a brace (finally) manca with 1 and westers 2
sad to see with Louie the lad is an absolute gentleman and a great player
wishing him a speedy recovery

He's all good mate, 8 stitches. The gash was quite deep & his shin bone was all exposed. Probably be out for 2-3 weeks, shame too, he's been on fire & scored 4 before he went off.swannsong wrote:Para Hills East ( 2 ) Southern Knights ( 2 )
Good hard game and lots of resolve shown by Knights despite last weeks exodus.
Paul Thompson added to his 7 goals in reserve games with both goals for the Knights A's today.
Knights went a goal down in the first minute, leveled the score in the second half, went 2-1 down and fought back to level the game at 2-2.

Player shortage at Knights filtering down to the Reserves...
Hope the East lad that went down with a deep gash to his knee in the second half is OK !

Still have no idea how it happened, the whole incident was so innocuous...I couldn't find any sharp edges on my boots or screw ins...but I threw them away anyway...did anyone thoroughly check the pitch for glass-metal ?

Yeah definitely nothing on the ground, I think it was just the point of contact, not much flesh there so any screw in type boots would have done it. There was a decent scrape underneath that one too so you certainly did a good a job of it!swannsong wrote:strappineastie wrote:He's all good mate, 8 stitches. Eric Van Rys Wyk has always been a full back bar a season or two where he played as a winger, the lad has pace to burn and a good football brain but is more dangerous overlapping and owning one side. Trust me, he has been a friend of mine for years.... he doesn't care where he plays as long as he playssprogget wrote:Westies got a flogging today from a team they would normally have beaten. Re: Results Sunday 6th June
Cheers Lefty bad day at the office for the Downs today. Some dissapointing comments made during and post game will be scrutinised. The most frustrating thing for me yesterday was reffing the 35s (so you could play) and being given grief from a bald headed Scotsman from the moment he walked on the park to the moment he left and he continued when I filled in team sheets in the dressing room. Mind you I dont think his game was anything to write home about, he hardly touched the ball.
Some comments about me playing extra time were unfounded, we kicked off at 12.20 and stopped play at 1.45 sharp that make 85 mins total in my book.(40+40+5) if you wanted to play 15 mins each way you should have let me know b4 kick off. Parafield were out on their feet at the end and lucky not to loose, players were asking how long to go when we were only 8 mins into the second half! If all chances were taken the game should have finished about ten all.

yes sorry nugget. Thou i was sick as a dog i still managed to ref a game without throwing up. Could'nt even drag my sorry ass to the club last night. Thanks for coming to see me as soon as you went 1.0 up . I think most of the crowd really enjoyed seeing the little tackers play. Pity they could'nt play a wee bit longer. We were getting on top at that stage and you certainly would'nt have minded us one win. Catch up soon.
Re: Results Sunday 6th June
Saw most of the Gardens-Downs 35s game and reckon that Downs would have pinched in had marooned played extra time!
Gardens are a good side and don't think they needed to play so dirtily, certainly won't win any friends if they carry on like that and in over 35s there really isn't any need for it especially incidents like the forward having a crack at the full back after he had tried unsuccessfully to scythe him down - pretty poor form from someone you would think would know better.
Cracking save from the Gardens keeper near the death too probably kept it even as well as one from the Downs keeper at 2-1 down as well. The cup game should be a belter!
First team game was entertaining and plenty of banter as always and Gardens good for their win.

Was a big week for the Knights all credit to Matt the players and everyone involved despite having more outs than ins, we were good for the draw, another tough few weeks, before we hopefully welcome back several players

Re: Results Sunday 6th June
Maybe you should be more worried about the antics of your coach after the game than your perceptions of an opposing player who like the rest of the Gardens team beat their opponent. And maybe the reason why his team mates didnt get involved was because like the rest of us we were happy to get the 3 pointsfriendly wrote:DODDSEY i was told reevesy was only doing what everyone else wants too
