I wouldn't be admitting that if I was you. If you don't have a qualified ref then you lose the game.
We lost both those games anyway.. I told the opposition what the situation was at the time. Just pissed off that my club is so f***ing useless that they can't organise a ref (not for us poor old div 4's anyway). In a way I would like to see SAASL give us a rap on the knuckles, that might mean things change a bit. I was assured that we would have a ref for yesterday's match but 15 mins before kickoff he's a no show, thankfully Strath had a qualified ref with them that could do it. Embarrassing really.

Another weekend over and the completion of another round of all leagues. I can see by reading the posts in the results thread that the cvlub refereeing was up to the ususal standard!

most club refs are not cheatsthey are just not very good. That's what comes with inexperience and lack of knowledge from players as well.

6 away teams last year and 2 decent refs (puma's and straph), 2 poor refs and 2 cheats.

In the away games I played Bs this year, both club refs (Navarino and Gleeson) were very good. Thinking about it, the previous two times I played away at those grounds in the Bs (2009 and 2008), they were also both very good.

2008 the guy was a prick! decent enough ref but a prick none the less.

Well you get a once off 2 hour training course for club refs it is no surprise the standard of refereeing is poor at times. Please correct if I am wrong.

2 x 2 hours.

basically 4 hours over 2 nights. No test after, my 6 year old son could pass the course because if you can write your name - you pass.

That's poor IMO from SAASL. Like you said just rock and write your name and boom you're a ref.

There was most certainly a test (the merits of the test are another question, however).

Me thinks that if players and spectators understood the Laws better there would be less complaining of standards. A fortnight ago i had players calling for a backpass to the keeper when the keeper didnt even pick the ball up!

The complaints would still be there but I do agree on players/spectators understanding the laws of the game. Can also be said of some who get given the task of running the line.

Rather than complaining, how about some of you guys do the training and learn the rules of the game.
Maybe even offer yourselves to do one or two games for your own club rather than creating a topic to bash club refs.
By the way, there was an exam when I did the course earlier this year.

Should it be a requirement that all players do the rules of the game training before they register...that would be interesting!

Wouldn't be the worse idea to have.

Wasn't when I took it, didn't you take the Level 4 from the federation?

Well there is a difference between honest mistakes and completely ignorant and blatant cheating when you have power on that park. I have first hand witnesses this ignorance more than once this season and it should not be acceptable at any level. SAASL should be randomly & anonymously inspecting these games and if the home team referee is found to be guilty of blatant cheating without reasonable doubt then they should be fined & deducted the day's points.

Why is something like this so hard to implement? Oh hang on, this is the SAASL.
Because there are only three Inspectors.
