Golden Boot?

Post by ComeBackDukes! »

Who will win the 2010 Golden Boot Award? I have named my top choice and best outsider. What are your predictions everyone?

TOP CHOICE:

DAVID VILLA - Since Spain have a strong chance of making the semis and therefore playing seven matches, he is an obvious choice. They should rack up a score against Honduras in the group stages and Villa may well get two or three in that game alone. He should score more than Torres, who is still under an injury cloud and isn't anywhere near as prolific as Villa when it comes to scoring at International level. Other favourites like Messi and Van Persie are victims of playing in teams that have a host of potential goal scorers, and probably won't score more than two or three goals each in my opinion. And Drogba may well only play three group games for Ivory Coast, as once again they have landed in the group of death.

BEST OUTSIDER:

DIEGO FORLAN - A dark horse for sure, but he's been scoring goals for fun at Athletico Madrid in the past few seasons and I think Uruguay have a good chance of topping their group ahead of France. I can't see them making it past the quarters, but if Forlan is on song then he could bag five or six goals along the way. He takes penalties too, which always helps.

Villa is the outright favourite, especially with Spain likely to go all the way and the best midfield in the Cup.

Messi has to be a chance, even with the rest of the scoring power in the Argie lineup, he can create and score from the midfield, poach off of others work and also score with his head if needed.

Rooney could if the Poms get it together and go on a good run.

but if i had to put me house on it it would have to Villa.

RVP....i think he is around 15/1. not a huge outsider though.
Tommy: We've lost Gorgeous George.

Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of fucking car keys now, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-fucking-spicuous now, is it?

Podolski as an outsider at ~50/1.

Villa is the obvious choice.
